Joe Biden’s Inauguration will be unlike any other in American history. That’s for two important reasons.
For one, his team plans a mostly virtual event, claiming the pandemic makes it too dangerous for large crowds (and perhaps because nobody wants to be there).
But due to the events of January 6, there will be a greater emphasis on security.
The government called in a whopping 25,000 National Guardsmen to protect D.C. That’s more than we’ve seen since the Civil War. (Paranoid much, Joe?)
Apparently, Joe’s team ran background checks on these soldiers and kicked out two of them.
From NY Post:
Two members of the US National Guard have been relieved of their inauguration security duties after background checks revealed ties to far-right militia groups, a report said Tuesday…
No organized plot has been found against incoming Democratic President Joe Biden, the report said.
Shocked at such an insulting move, Texas’s Greg Abbott made a stunning announcement.
From Daily Wire:
Republican Gov. Greg Abbott (TX) on Monday night ripped into the so-called “loyalty” screening of tens of thousands of National Guards troops to secure the inauguration of President-elect Joe Biden…
“I authorized more than 1,000 to go to DC. I’ll never do it again if they are disrespected like this,” warned Abbott.
Joe’s Inauguration team removed two National Guardsmen after a background check revealed they had been connected to or posted something authorities considered extreme.
Those kind of insulting actions suggest Joe’s administration will judge people, not based on their actions or character, but on their politics.
Calling it an outright sign of disrespect, Gov. Abbott of Texas said he will “never” send National Guardsmen to D.C.
Many are calling the background check some kind of “loyalty” test. This is scarily similar to how dictators of the past behaved when they were trying to consolidate their power.
Democrats appear to be acting this way a lot, lately. They have been targeting Republicans in D.C., some newly elected by the people, accusing them of “inciting” the events of January 6.
It seems Democrats believe Republicans have to abandon Trump and their values or be treated as some kind of enemy of the state.
At least leaders in Texas won’t stand for this kind of treatment. I wonder how many more leaders will have the guts to do the same?
- Biden’s Inauguration team did background checks on 25,000 National Guardsmen.
- They ejected two because of their association with a right-wing group.
- Abbott condemned this “loyalty” test and vowed he would never send troops again if D.C. continued it.
