After Woke Harvard Scandal Stuns America – The School Gets Its Biggest Punishment

Soon after the horrific events of October 7th, student groups in top universities turned on Israel. Seemingly ignoring the actions of Hamas, these young progressives accused Israel of being an “apartheid” state.

Presidents of top U.S. schools refused to condemn these student groups. Three of them were forced to testify before Congress. They shocked the nation when they refused to renounce anti-Semitic groups.

Perhaps the biggest scandal came out of Harvard. The president, Claudine Gay, was criticized for refusing to condemn anti-Semitism on campus. This led to another scandal, where she was accused of plagiarism. Even with Gay gone, the school has not recovered. And a new report reveals things are getting worse.

From Just the News:
Harvard University has seen a decline in applications following months of scandals involving antisemitism, plagiarism and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion programs in what critics are calling a warning to other schools facing such challenges…

“Let all of US higher education be warned: If you don’t kick the radicals off campus and off the school’s board, shut down the DEI offices and focus on offering an education worth the cost of tuition, you could be next,” the New York Post wrote in an editorial Saturday.

Harvard has seen a decline in applications by 5% since the anti-Semitic controversy and Claudine Gay’s fall. Applications to arguably the most famous university in America aren’t supposed to decline year over year. They are supposed to increase, as tens of thousands of students eagerly seek enrollment.

But it seems as if students are interested in looking elsewhere—after the Harvard board gave Claudine Gay a pass for ignoring anti-Semitism and plagiarizing other authors. Only after intense public outcry did the school compel Gay to resign.

Critics are blaming Harvard’s DEI policies for hurting applications. Harvard was at the center of a Supreme Court battle over affirmative action policies affecting the application process. Harvard was one of many schools accused of wrongfully neglecting Asian American and white applicants, favoring applicants of color.

It is possible parents are not willing to pay for their children to go to a far-left, “woke” university. Harvard’s tuition is one of the highest in the country. Perhaps parents would rather spend the money on a school that won’t turn their children against traditional American values.

Key Takeaways:

  • Applications to Harvard are down by 5% since the scandals of last year.
  • The school was rocked by anti-Semitism as their president was outed for plagiarism.
  • Critics claim that DEI policies in schools are turning off students.
