Nancy Pelosi’s final stint as House Speaker was marked by intimidation. Instead of working with both parties, she used the gavel to hammer her way. She even pushed around moderate Democrats, bullying them into supporting bills that went against their values.
One of her most egregious moves was to deprive members of Congress of the right to defend themselves. She banned concealed carry firearms at one point and installed metal detectors, subjecting House members to screenings. But, now that she is gone, her rules are being erased.
And GOP Boebert got to oversee one big change.

Republican Rep. Lauren Boebert was on hand as a crew removed metal detectors. House members had to go through an airport-style screening every day before they could go to work. This was at the order of Nancy Pelosi, who treated House members like criminals instead of colleagues.
Boebert previously had to fight Pelosi’s House rules banning concealed carry firearms. Boebert won that fight, recruiting other congressmen to support her. Boebert blasted Pelosi’s rule, saying it put female House members at risk.
Now that Pelosi is no longer Speaker, many of her rules are being overturned. We don’t have to wait for a new Speaker to be picked for Pelosi’s mark on the House to be eradicated. Pelosi has served in Congress for decades. She was Speaker during several presidents’ administrations.
But what is her legacy? All she can boast about is supporting legislation that has bankrupted the United States. And rules that treated her own colleagues like common thugs. Boebert was proud to see the day those detectors were removed.
- Lauren Boebert celebrated the removal of metal detectors from the House chambers.
- Pelosi had ordered those metal detectors, among other strict rules against her colleagues.
- Now that Nancy Pelosi is no longer Speaker of the House, her orders no longer apply.
