The media has extensively covered the situation surrounding the McCloskey’s, a couple who brandished firearms to defend their home from protestors.
If you believe the liberal-leaning media, these homeowners were out to break to the law.
The city of St. Louis turned on these law-abiding citizens, taking their guns.
Rumors swirled that they would actually face charges, though they did not fire a shot.
Soon enough, a city prosecutor charged this couple with “felony unlawful use of a weapon.”
Then the state AG fired back:
Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt filed a brief that would dismiss the charges. The brief stated that Schmitt “respectfully requests that the Court dismiss this case at the earlier possible opportunity.”
“The right to keep and bear arms is given the highest level of protection in our constitution and our laws, including the Castle Doctrine, which provides broad rights to Missourians who are protecting their property and lives from those who wish to do them harm,” Schmitt told Fox News.
Like much of what the MSM has done these days, they ignored the actions of the protesters who threatened the McCloskey’s home. This mob broke into a gated community and invaded private property.
Given how many protests have ended in recent weeks (i.e.: in violence), there was a very good reason for the McCloskey’s to fear for their home and lives.
The media has ignored what the protesters did (where are their charges?) and put all the blame on two people who did not fire a single shot.
The McCloskey’s harmed no one and lawfully owned those firearms. That did not stop the police from taking their guns—and this prosecutor from hitting them with a major charge.
Those charges could land both of them in jail, not to mention weigh them down with heavy fines.
They might lose their jobs—and even their home. And for what? Because the liberal-leaning media wanted to make an example of them.
Their message was clear: defend your home from dangerous protesters and we’ll punish you.
Both the state governor and state AG defended the homeowners. Missouri AG Eric Schmitt promised to dismiss the charges. The governor said he would pardon this couple, should they ever be convicted.
If the AG is successful, it might not be the end of the story. Leftists in the city of St. Louis might still try to “get back” at this couple for exercising their Second Amendment rights.
It’s possible this story is far from over.
- A St. Louis prosecutor is charging the McCloskey’s with a felony for defending their home.
- The Missouri Attorney General is filing to dismiss the charges.
- This comes after the MSM painted the homeowners as criminals for brandishing firearms.
