Over Trump’s first term in office, the media often cited “anonymous sources” in their attacks. Rarely did we ever learn if these “sources” were even real.
Right before the end of his term, several outlets claim Trump pressured Georgia officials to “find the fraud.” This came at a key time in Trump’s battle for election integrity.
As usual, the papers claimed “anonymous sources” told them about it.
Turns out, audio has come out (only now) that proved he never said what they claimed. And now Trump is taking a victory lap around the fake news.
Officials in the Georgia Secretary of State’s Office located a recently released recording of former President Donald Trump’s call to a state investigator in a trash folder on her device…
From Daily Wire:
Turning his aim back at the media, Trump claimed such “establishment media errors, omissions, mistakes, and outright lies always slant one way—against me and against Republicans,” and he noted “stories that hurt Democrats or undermine their narratives are buried, ignored, or delayed until they can do the least harm—for example, after an election is over.” He contrasted the coverage of the COVID-19 vaccine before and after the election as an example.
The Washington Post and Wall Street Journal (and picked up by most outlets) claimed that Trump “pressured” Georgia officials to “find the fraud.”
They spun this to suggest Trump was trying to get these officials to manufacture evidence of problems.
Yet the newly discovered audio (that was hiding in the state investigator’s trash folder for some reason), proved that not only were the papers wrong, but Trump never said what they claimed.
Trump hammered the media, saying this revelation vindicates him. He made the observation that such “errors” always seem to hurt him and other Republicans.
But stories that can hurt Democrat officials always seem to get swept under the rug.
He said they only come out when they “do the least” harm to liberals.
The former president said this new development makes the ongoing Georgia story a “non-story.” The left was trying to maintain a narrative that Trump was a sore loser who tried to “alter” the outcome of the election.
They used this anonymously sourced story as evidence. Now, they have no legs to stand on.
The Washington Post was forced to issue a correction. But will the rest of the media apologize and their end biased coverage?
- Media outlets were forced to issue a correction over a story slamming Trump.
- Claims that Trump ordered Georgia officials to “find the fraud” were false, based on recorded audio.
- Trump criticized the media, saying these “mistakes” only seem to slant one way—against Republicans.
