Even before the CBO report came out, House Democrats were rushing to pass Biden’s massive spending bill. They hoped to get it done on Thursday, before anyone could find out the huge impact their uncheck spending would have on this country.
But there was one man standing in their way, Kevin McCarthy.
Democrats were poised to vote on the bill that night, hoping to slip it in when nobody was watching. House Minority Leader McCarthy decided to make sure everyone knew just what is in this toxic bill. And he smashed the record for longest speech on the House floor.
From Fox News:
House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) yielded the floor on Friday morning at 5:11 a.m. after speaking for a record eight hours and forty-two minutes against the Democrats’ multi-trillion-dollar “Build Back Better” social spending bill…
McCarthy’s address smashed the previous record — an eight-hour, seven-minute address by Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) in 2018 in support of the Delayed Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, which benefits illegal aliens who arrived as minors.
McCarthy spoke for a record eight hours and forty-two minutes yesterday evening into Friday morning. He ended at 5:11 AM. The House Minority Leader used the time to expose the Democrats’ bloated spending agenda—and the damage this bill would cause to the U.S. economy.
The previous record was held by Nancy Pelosi, who spoke for eight hours and seven minutes in 2018.
At first, Democrats tried to derail the Republican by heckling him. It seems McCarthy could not be deterred. Among the things he highlighted during his speech, McCarthy revealed how this spending bill would raise taxes on businesses, keep the border open, grant amnesty to migrants, increase costs on energy, and give tax cuts to Pelosi’s millionaire buddies.
Many critics have blasted Biden’s “build back better” spending bill. The legislation would cripple numerous American industries. Taxes would rise on middle and working-class Americans, but rich Democrats in blue states would receive many tax breaks.
McCarthy also hammered Democrats for taking out an amendment that would prevent U.S. dollars from going to Communist China.
