Americans might be discouraged, knowing so many “conservatives” in D.C. are actually swamp dwellers. But there is hope.
There are plenty of America First leaders still fighting for the country. One of those appears to be Matt Gaetz.
He fought for Trump during the first impeachment. And he defended Trump’s efforts for transparent election results.
Now, he’s willing to put it all on the line to defend Trump another time.
From Daily Caller:
Republican Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz said Wednesday that he would resign from Congress in order to defend former President Donald Trump in his upcoming impeachment trial…
“I view this cancellation of the Trump presidency and the Trump movement as one of the biggest threats” to his constituents, he said. “I’m here to win, to win so much I get tired of it because that’s what I was promised.”
Gaetz explained during a recent interview that he was willing to leave his House seat to defend Trump, if necessary.
He accused Democrats of trying to “cancel” the Trump presidency and the movement he sparked. It’s hard to argue with that.
Even with Joe Biden in the White House, Democrats are still wasting time on an impeachment trial. The reason is obvious: to erase Trump’s legacy and prevent him from running again.
A conviction would “prove” everything the left has said about Trump was right. It would give them greater excuse to condemn MAGA America and to suppress future attempts by populists to reshape the government.
It seems Matt Gaetz isn’t going to sit back and let that happen.
As it stands, for now, Trump has formed his legal team and they have already prepared their defense. They are arguing that this impeachment is a violation of Trump’s First Amendment rights, claiming a speech “incited” something.
Gaetz isn’t needed for that, but he’s certainly needed in Congress.
