GOP Rep. Massie Brings Major 2A Bill to Congress – He’s Trying to Get Rid of Federal Gun-Free School Zones

What’s Happening:

Joe Biden has failed to get his gun control agenda moving in Congress. That might be good news, but don’t be fooled. Democrats at the state level have pushed radical anti-Second Amendment laws.

And if Dems keep a majority in Congress after 2022, they will do everything in their power to undermine your Second Amendment rights.

Meanwhile, Republicans are fighting to protect your right to bear arms. In fact, Rep. Thomas Massie announced a new bill. It would revoke an outdated federal law, giving power back to states.

From House.gov:

Representative Thomas Massie (R-KY) announces his re-introduction of the “Safe Students Act,” H.R. 7415. The “Safe Students Act” repeals the “Gun-Free School Zones Act of 1990,” (GFSZA) eliminating GFSZA’s one-size-fits-all federal ban on guns in school zones. Enactment of the “Safe Students Act” would make it easier for state and local governments and school boards to unambiguously set their own firearms policies.

Rep. Massie is putting forward the “Safe Students Acts.” This bill would revoke a law from 1990 that created the federally-mandated gun-free school zones.

Under Massie’s bill, states will be able to set their own policies, based on their unique circumstances and needs.

It’s a painful reality that “gun free zones” are vulnerable to shooters. This is particularly true in schools, which have been the target of mass shooters for years.

Because law-abiding citizens are unable to defend themselves, criminals feel empowered to shoot at will. But if states and school boards are able to arm teachers or others, it would be a deterrent to would-be killers.

This is a bill that every member of Congress should support. But it will be a tough battle to convince Democrats to embrace anything that respects the Second Amendment.

Democrats seem to love pushing laws that take guns out of Americans’ hands while doing nothing to disarm criminals.

This bill might not see the light of day until Republicans retake the House.

Key Takeaways:

  • Massie introduced a bill that revokes federal gun-free school zones.
  • The law would allow states to set their own firearms policies.
  • This comes as Democrats push for greater gun control across the country.
