Manchin Sends Shockwaves Through Washington – The Powerful Senator Boldly Takes a Side in Budget Battle

What’s Happening:

Sen. Joe Manchin has long been a thorn in both parties’ sides. The moderate Democrat has previously opposed Joe Biden’s reckless agenda, refusing to let Democrats railroad the Senate. But he’s also supported Biden’s drastic “inflation” bill, which will only increase taxes on working Americans.

But now that Republicans are in charge of the House, Biden’s spending spree has ground to a halt. Biden refuses to negotiate to cut spending and raise the debt ceiling–risking a major crisis. And now, Sen. Manchin is coming out in support of a side in this battle.

From The Hill:

Sen. Joe Manchin… slammed President Biden for showing “a deficiency of leadership” on a potential national default and applauded Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) for proposing a plan to raise the debt limit.

“… it has been more than 78 days since President Biden last met with Speaker McCarthy. This signals a deficiency of leadership, and it must change,” Manchin said in a statement.

Whoa. Sen. Manchin blasted Joe Biden for refusing to meet with House Speaker McCarthy over the debt ceiling crisis. The senator pointed out that it’s been more than 78 days since Biden met with McCarthy. Since then, we’ve gotten closer to a national default.

If the debt ceiling isn’t raised by June, the government will be unable to borrow money. That will not only result in a government shutdown, but a cascade of other financial blows. Despite the massive damage this would do to America, Biden refuses to work with Republicans on a compromise.

This is the same man who has touted his history as a “great” negotiator in the Senate. Yet today, he refuses to work with Republicans. He is so hell-bent on pushing a toxic, socialist agenda, that he’d rather see the U.S. economy collapse than make cuts to his spending plans.

Manchin is placing the blame of this crisis on Biden’s shoulders. He said Biden is showing a “deficiency of leadership.” Uh… yeah. Biden has failed to show a shred of leadership since the moment he’s entered office. He refuses to do the hard of leading the country, instead letting his goons do the work for him.

But things aren’t going to get better, unless Biden wakes up and starts doing his job.

Key Takeaways:

  • Manchin blasted Joe Biden for refusing to negotiate with Republicans.
  • The country will default on its loans if the debt ceiling isn’t raised in June.
  • Biden has refused to work with Republicans, demanding a bill with no cuts.
