Our officials and leaders are not above the law.
So, it’s nice to see that once and a while, someone who has abused their influence gets what they deserve.
In this case, a Kentucky judge had been accused of some truly shocking behavior. All in a family courtroom.
But once it all came to light, she was handed justice:
A Kentucky judge accused of using sex and booze to turn her courtroom into a virtual frat house was kicked off the bench by a judicial panel on Monday…
Gentry, 39, was accused of creating a rowdy atmosphere at the courthouse, hiring her boyfriend and bandmate, allowing drinking during work hours, and using sex, coercion, and retaliation against lawyers and court employees who didn’t back her political campaigns, the outlet said.
Kenton County Family Court Judge Dawn Gentry was accused of a variety of shocking behavior, including turning the court into a “virtual frat house.”
She was suspended in December and a five-member judicial commission voted to remove her this week.
In addition to rowdy parties in the family courthouse, Gentry was accused of coercion against lawyers and court employees who didn’t back her political campaigns.
Clearly, this judge was abusing her power in almost every way. It’s surprising that she isn’t facing any criminal charges, considering the circumstances.
This kind of story would have been unthinkable just a few years ago. But as our society has embraced more and more immoral behavior, even judges are caught up to no good.
This judge was relatively young, a “Millennial” by most standards. Is this what we can look forward to from future generations?
Will any young politician or judge just jump off the deep end, engaging in such unacceptable acts?
We occasionally hear about young teachers, some in grade school, caught doing indecent things in classrooms. Recently, a young California congresswoman resigned after shocking photos came to light.
Is this the norm from now on?
We certainly hope not. This story makes us worry that other judges are doing the same thing.
At least, in this case, one got caught.
- A Kentucky judge was removed from the bench after accused of lewd behavior.
- Gentry was accused of holding rowdy parties in the courthouse and coercing people.
- The woman was suspended in December and officially removed this week.
