Kamala Harris has long appeared to be against the Second Amendment. That’s why it came as a surprise last month when she revealed that she’s a gun owner.
Back in September, Harris told Brian Taff of Philadelphia’s Action News that she owns a gun. She even went so far as to say that if someone breaks into her home, “they’re getting shot.”
“We’re not taking anybody’s guns away,” she said at the time. “I support the Second Amendment and I support reasonable gun safety laws.”
Unfortunately for Harris, many Americans simply didn’t buy it. One of these people was the House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer.
“I don’t think anyone believes that Kamala Harris is a gun owner,” Comer said. “But if she is, she needs to tell the American people what type of gun she has.”
Last night, 60 Minutes host Bill Whitaker asked her about this. Harris’s response was surprising.

On Monday night Whitaker told the Vice President how her comment “recently surprised people” and pressed her, asking “What kind of gun do you own, and when and why did you get it?”“I have a Glock, and I’ve had it for quite some time,” she replied. “And I mean, look. My background is in law enforcement. And so there you go.”
“Have you ever fired it?” Whittaker asked.
“Yes, of course, I have,” she replied, laughing. “At a shooting range? Yes.”

Does Harris Still Support A Mandatory Gun Buyback Program?
It’s hard to believe that a radical liberal elitist like Harris actually owns a gun. Indeed, in the above clip, it looks like Harris is making up what she’s saying as she goes.
This move of claiming to own a gun could ultimately blow up in Harris’ face. Like with many other issues, it’s unclear where she currently stands on mandatory gun buyback. However, during her first failed run for president in 2019, Harris made her views on that disturbingly clear.
“We have to have a buyback program. And I support a mandatory buyback program,” Harris said in a 2019 clip that was shared by the National Rifle Association (NRA) last month.

Harris could also be alienating liberals with her proud gun ownership comments. Indeed, most liberals have no respect for the Second Amendment. The far-left voters that Harris is depending on for support likely won’t be quick to vote for a gun-toting president.
However, perhaps Harris is realizing just how much she’s bleeding support with working class white male voters. That’s quite a voting block, and only a small number are backing her.
Harris may think she can pander to working-class white male voters by claiming to be a gun owner. Unfortunately for her, most of them see right through her nonsense and realize the harm that she’ll do as president, both to the Second Amendment and America as a whole. In the end, this might just be yet another misstep out of the many that Harris has made in this race. Here’s hoping it helps to cost her the election!
