Speaker Johnson Just Left Democrats Speechless – Here’s His Epic Threat After Trump Verdict

The trial that created the first felon former president has prompted sharp responses from people who support former President Donald Trump. His conviction has drawn the ire of legal scholars, conservatives, and even liberals who agree that the trial was politically motivated and unconstitutional.

Trump has maintained his innocence and vowed to fight on as he seeks to win the 2024 presidential race in November. Support for him surged after the verdict with polls showing people once opposed to him shifting sides and tens of millions of dollars in campaign donations padding his campaign coffers.

The former president also gained a renewed show of support from Republican leaders in Congress. The stiffening of resolve has escalated with senior GOP officials vowing to take the fight to Democrats.

From Fox News:
House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., vowed to retaliate for the guilty verdict against former President Trump on Sunday, saying House Republicans would use “everything in our arsenal.”

“We are the rule of law party. Chaos is not a conservative value. We have to fight back, and we will with everything in our arsenal. But we will do that within the confines of the rule of law,” Johnson said.

“We believe in our institutions. We are conservatives, and we are trying to conserve the greatest country in the history of the world. And its institutions are an important part of that. Our system of justice is an important part of that,” he added.

The speaker emphasized the oversight powers that the House has and said the GOP plans to leverage them against corrupt prosecutors. He clarified, however, that Republicans must remain within the “rule of law.”

Trump became a felon after he was found guilty on 34 felony counts of falsifying business records in a Manhattan courtroom last week. Trump is scheduled to be sentenced on July 11, just days before the Republican National Convention. Conservatives were outraged and some called for prosecutions of Democrat politicians.

Johnson emphasized how Republicans should act withing the confines of the law but take the fight to the opposition. He highlighted efforts by House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, who summoned Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg and the lead prosecutors in Trump’s case to testify before the committee on June 13.

Trump used his Manhattan conviction to rally voters who claim his prosecution was political. He still faces three additional court cases against him. As the cases drag on, Trump’s campaign estimates he will draw upwards of $150 million over the course of the week.

If Trump can keep from getting thrown into a jail cell and stay on the campaign trail, Democrats will likely be screaming and crying again on election night in November.

Key Takeaways:

  • House Speaker Mike Johnson vows to fight Democrats with “everything in our arsenal.”
  • He emphasized that Republicans would stay within the rule of law to conserve the country.
  • Johnson’s comments followed the New York conviction of former President Donald Trump.
