Sen. Joe Manchin has appeared to be a fair-weathered friend to conservatives. He has fought Joe Biden and his party over some of the left’s most radical plans. But, when push came to shove, he helped Joe Biden out by passing a bill that raised taxes and increased government spending.
But Manchin isn’t finished trying to win back support from the folks back home. He recently came out and criticized Biden’s failures–and his reckless spending–pointing out how Joe’s far-left agenda is hurting the country.
From Daily Wire:
Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) highlighted numerous problems facing the United States during an interview over the weekend, problems that have largely erupted under the leadership of President Joe Biden…
Brennan noted that Manchin recently gave a “fiery speech” in the Senate in which he was at odds with the Biden administration and many in the Democrat Party over their “out-of-control spending and are refusing to negotiate.”
Manchin slammed Democrats’ unwillingness to support his plan for a pipeline. He pointed out that we wouldn’t have to fear train derailments (which have been happening nearly daily recently) if we were moving oil via safe, reliable pipelines. Manchin tried to secure a new pipeline for West Virginia last year, but his side deal with Schumer was shut down by House Democrats.
The moderate Democrat followed up his criticism with a startling statement. When asked about whom he’d be supporting in 2024, he said this.
From Daily Wire:
Manchin… offered little insight on Sunday as he faced a flurry of questions regarding his plans, including possible presidential aspirations.
“Let’s see who is involved. Let’s wait until we see who all the players are,” Manchin said during an appearance on CBS News’s “Face the Nation” when asked whether he would endorse President Joe Biden for re-election in 2024.
How interesting. Many establishment Democrats have already strongly backed Joe Biden. Despite Joe’s terrible track record, advanced age, and clear signs of dementia, these Democrats think he should serve a second term.
But Manchin refused to endorse Biden. He even said, “let’s see who is involved.” What does that mean? Is Manchin suggesting other Democrats will give Joe a run for his money? Does Manchin intend to run himself, challenging Biden directly?
Manchin’s Senate seat is up for grabs in 2024. Maybe he thinks he has lost enough support in West Virginia that he is unlikely to win re-election. But as a moderate Democrat, maybe he thinks he’ll get plenty of support nationwide–perhaps enough to become president?
We can’t say for sure, but we’ll be watching Manchin’s statements closely.
- Manchin criticized Biden and his party over numerous failures.
- The moderate Democrat also refused to endorse Biden for his 2024 run.
- This comes as Manchin mulls his future plans, as he’s up for re-election in 2024.
