For years, Republicans in Congress have accused Hunter Biden of colluding with his father. They’ve said the Bidens engaged in a bribery ring that involved several foreign countries and businesses.

Some of Biden’s former associates have even testified, accusing Hunter of using his father as a “brand” to acquire millions.

After running from a subpoena months ago, Hunter finally testified before Congress. Lawmakers grilled Hunter over the alarming claims that Joe Biden would engage in speakerphone calls with Hunter and his business partners. Hunter did not deny that these shocking things happened but made this excuse.

“I’m surprised my dad hasn’t called me right now, and if he did, I would put him on speakerphone to say hi to you and to Congressman Raskin and everybody else in the room,” Hunter Biden said. “It is nothing nefarious literally.”

Hunter Biden tried to explain away accusations that his father spoke with his business partners over the phone during meetings. Hunter claimed that his father was just calling him, as any father would.

He claimed that if he was “with people that are friends” he would have the then-Vice President of the United States say “Hi.”

This could be the most pathetic excuse for criminal behavior ever. Hunter Biden has been accused of working with his father to sell influence to foreign countries. He isn’t even denying his father called him during meetings and spoke with his business associates.

But his excuse is that’s just a dad being a dad.

Joe Biden has long claimed he had no knowledge of his son’s businesses and that he was never involved in those businesses. Yet numerous witness testimony shatters those claims, as do communications and even photos. But the Bidens appear to be scrambling to cover their tracks, as the consequences could be catastrophic for both of them.

It is unlikely that Republican investigators believed Hunter Biden’s excuse. They will probably continue their investigations against the Biden family.
