Hours After Joe Pardons Him, Hunter Biden Faces Potential 5th Amendment Problem

President Joe Biden shocked the world on Sunday night when he pardoned his disgraced son, Hunter. Joe did this despite repeatedly claiming that he would not pardon Hunter.

Indeed, Joe was saying that as recently as June, yet he did it anyway. Hunter’s pardon may have given the president’s son the impression that his problems are now over.

Unfortunately for Hunter, however, this is not the case at all. Much to Hunter’s dismay, he’s been hit with a Fifth Amendment bombshell that he likely never saw coming.

The criminal defense attorney, Kevin Adams, responded to Hunter’s pardon by pointing out that it opens the door for Congress to call him as a witness. It’s no exaggeration to say that this is the stuff that Hunter’s nightmares are made of.

From Newsweek:
Adams wrote on X that Hunter can no longer refuse to answer questions before Congress. That is because the Fifth Amendment of the U.S. Constitution protects people from having to answer questions before Congress if it could help a prosecution case against them or compel them to make self-incriminating statements.

With Hunter now free from all his criminal cases, he cannot use the Fifth Amendment to refuse to answer questions.

“The upside to Joe Biden’s pardon is that Hunter Biden no longer enjoys the right to assert his 5th Amendment Right against self incrimination and contempt of Congress is also a crime,” Adams wrote.

Joe Proudly Pardons Hunter

This came after Joe pardoned Hunter. Indeed, the pardon applies to any crimes that Hunter may have committed from January 1, 2014, through December 1, 2024.

“Today, I signed a pardon for my son Hunter,” Joe said. “From the day I took office, I said I would not interfere with the Justice Department’s decision-making, and I kept my word even as I have watched my son being selectively, and unfairly, prosecuted.”

Joe went on to claim that Hunter was “treated differently” by prosecutors.

“Without aggravating factors like use in a crime, multiple purchases, or buying a weapon as a straw purchaser, people are almost never brought to trial on felony charges solely for how they filled out a gun form,” the outgoing president claimed.

“Those who were late paying their taxes because of serious addictions, but paid them back subsequently with interest and penalties, are typically given non-criminal resolutions,” Joe added. “It is clear that Hunter was treated differently.”

Trump Fires Back

President-elect Donald Trump fired back through his communications director, Steven Cheung. He said that “the failed witch hunts against President Trump have proved that the Democrat-controlled DOJ [Department of Justice] and other radical prosecutors are guilty of weaponizing the justice system.”

Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) responded to the pardon by indicating that Hunter could be called before Congress to testify as Republicans consider impeaching Joe based on his shady business dealings involving his son.

“Democrats said there was nothing to our impeachment inquiry. If that’s the case, why did Joe Biden just issue Hunter Biden a pardon for the very things we were inquiring about?” Jordan questioned.

We’d certainly like to know the question about that as well!

In the end, Joe’s pardon of Hunter just confirms that the entire Biden family is as crooked as they come. We can only hope that this blows up in their faces, and that they get the karma that they deserve!

Key Takeaways:

  • Joe Biden pardons Hunter after pledging not to.
  • This opens the door for Hunter to be forced to answer questions before Congress.
  • Hunter can no longer hide behind the 5th Amendment.
