President Trump might be leaving the White House, but he’s not bending over backward for Biden.
We know that Trump won’t be attending the Inauguration. That’s not the first time it’s happened.
In fact, it’s happened three times during our nation’s history.
But this is the first time it’s happened during the nuclear era. So, because Trump won’t be in D.C. tomorrow, something’s happened we’ve never seen before.
And it has everything to do with the infamous “nuclear football.”
CNN reports new details of President Donald Trump’s forgoing of the traditional handoff of the “nuclear football” — he’s taking the highly classified briefcase with him to Mar-a-Lago instead…
“The case holds the highly classified equipment and authorities needed for our president to order the military to launch a nuclear weapon.”
Because Trump won’t be there when Biden is sworn into office, he won’t “hand over” the briefcase with all the nuclear launch codes.
But they can’t leave that case lying around away from the current president. So, the military that is going with Trump will be bringing along the football with them.
In the event something drastic happens before Biden is sworn in, Trump will be able to act.
Once Biden takes his oath of office, the military will provide him with a second briefcase, with new codes.
The codes in the first briefcase will no longer be active and Trump will lose access to them.
It’s an unusual situation, brought on by some obviously unique circumstances.
Donald Trump never conceded the race to Biden and fought all the way to January 6. Many of his supporters might continue to believe in what he’s claimed.
Although he is stepping down for Joe Biden to take over, he will not attend the event. That shouldn’t surprise us.
What do you think will happen in the future for Trump—and the GOP?
- President Trump will not attend Joe Biden’s Inauguration.
- That means he will have the “nuclear football” with him in Florida.
- A second briefcase will be provided for Biden once he is sworn in.
