Hours After Leaving the Hospital – Fetterman Reveals 2 Eye-Opening Details About His Illnesses

When Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA) checked himself into the hospital for depression, the political world exploded with questions and rumors.

The Democrat’s health had been under heavy scrutiny prior to this stunning event, so it stands to reason that America demanded more information. Is Fetterman fit to serve in office or not?

Well, the controversial politician is out now — and he has revealed several previously unknown details.

Sen. Fetterman checked into the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland back in February, citing serious issues with depression.

However, most didn’t realize how severe the situation was. As Fetterman told CBS News, it had reached the point where he couldn’t even get out of bed in the morning.

Via The Daily Caller:

I had stopped leaving my bed, I had stopped eating, I was dropping weight. I had stopped engaging in most things that I love in my life.

My message right now isn’t political. I’m just somebody that is suffering from depression.

Even though Fetterman won his Senate race against GOP challenger Dr. Mehmet Oz, the Democrat said “depression can absolutely convince you that you actually lost.”

He then said he was sent into a “downward spiral” that got so bad, he had no choice but to check into the Medical Center. His critics maintain that this is more proof that he’s simply not fit to serve.

But there’s another detail some perhaps didn’t know about:

When in the hospital, doctors found that Fetterman had a “serious hearing deficit,” which makes it difficult for him to understand spoken words. That’s why he has to rely on captioning during public appearances.

All of this apparently contributed to Fetterman’s depression, which reached a breaking point during a Democratic retreat.

He reportedly claimed he couldn’t eat, which his colleagues noticed. Immediately afterward he complained of feeling “light-headed,” and then just a day later, he checked himself into the hospital.

Most people remember that Fetterman suffered a stroke less than a year go, and now he’s in “remission” for depression.

To many American voters, none of this instills a lot of confidence in his capabilities as a high-ranking Washington official. He’s already missed a historic amount of work due to his recent illness.

Key Takeaways:

  • Sen. John Fetterman revealed several details of his recent hospital stay.
  • He said his depression was so bad he “stopped leaving his bed” and he “stopped eating.”
  • When at the hospital, doctors found that Fetterman had a “serious hearing deficit,” making it difficult for him to understand people.
