The 2020 presidential election raised lots of questions in the eyes of some voters. Mail-in and absentee ballots were a hot topic, for instance.
But it also brought up the issue of the Electoral College once again — is it an antiquated institution, or should it remain?
Well, Hillary Clinton has made her position plain.
And perhaps it will be seen as ironic: because she revealed her dislike of the Electoral College process just after casting a vote for Joe Biden.
Basically, she doesn’t like the system, but she’ll use it in Biden’s case.
Former Trump challenger Hillary Clinton called to ‘abolish the Electoral College’ on Monday after she, an elector, cast a vote for Joe Biden and Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA).
Electors around the nation are formalizing their votes this week, and Biden has already been given the victory.
Though some will undoubtedly find it somewhat hypocritical of Clinton.
On the one hand, she said she was “proud” to cast her Electoral vote for the Biden/Harris ticket. As she said on Twitter:
I believe we should abolish the Electoral College and select our president by the winner of the popular vote, same as every other office.
But while it still exists, I was proud to cast my vote in New York for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. pic.twitter.com/th9qebu9ka

But on the other hand, she’s quick to condemn the Electoral College and the role it plays in presidential elections.
She isn’t the only Democrat leader who feels this way, either.
In the past, Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT), Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) have all called out the system.
Some do believe it’s an archaic remnant of the country’s election system.
While others say it absolutely needs to remain as the institution it is, and is an integral part of the voting process.
Either way, however, Clinton is bound to catch a little heat for casting her electoral vote — and then saying she doesn’t like that system.
- Hillary Clinton was “proud” to cast her Electoral vote for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.
- But shortly after, she condemned the Electoral College on social media.
- Clinton isn’t the only Democrat to call out the College; Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren and AOC have done so as well.
