Sen. Hawley Fires Stern Order at White House – “At a Minimum,” Attorney General Garland Must Be Removed or Impeached

The nation is still reeling from the news of the FBI raid on former President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate. Recent details haven’t helped calm the situation; if anything, tensions have only escalated.

While Democrats are quick to defend the raid on Trump’s home, Republican leaders and citizens are furious. They demand more transparency on this issue, and some want heads to roll.

This includes a GOP leader who says at the “bare minimum,” two top Biden officials must go.

Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) has often been vocal in his criticism of the Biden administration and many of its highest-ranking members. He has also defended Trump on numerous occasions.

In this case, he believes the FBI raid on Trump’s home was politically motivated, and punishments should be forthcoming.

Most Republicans are demanding legitimate reasons for the raid, and they want authorities to reveal any evidence they may have found. So far, the FBI and Washington in general has remained relatively tight-lipped.

And as far as Sen. Hawley is concerned, one man should pay the price for all this: U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland:

Hawley called the raid an “unprecedented assault on democratic norms and the rule of law,” and he didn’t stop there.

He believes both AG Garland and FBI head Christopher Wray should be immediately removed, and the agency needs to be restructured:

Of course, these demands aren’t likely to be met, especially with Joe Biden in office.

However, Hawley’s remarks send a strong message, and represent an incensed side of the populace. A great many citizens believe this was a “banana republic” operation, and way beyond the pale.

For example, Dr. Ben Carson ripped the move, saying it’s “closer to Mao and Castro” than Washington and Lincoln.

Others are saying that the reasons for the FBI raid are either unclear or simply aren’t strong enough. The timing of the operation is also in question, given the likelihood of Trump’s running in 2024.

Insiders have suggested that Trump will announce his candidacy somewhere around the midterm elections, and many say they aren’t surprised that the FBI raid happened now.

In the eyes of many Trump supporters and right-wing citizens, Democrats will do anything to keep the former President from running again. They claim that’s the driving force behind the FBI raid.

But we’ll have to wait and see what they’ve uncovered, and whether or not the operation really can be justified.

Key Takeaways:

  • Sen. Josh Hawley demands a “bare minimum” of punishments for the FBI raid on Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate.
  • Hawley wants Attorney General Merrick Garland to resign or be impeached, and he also wants FBI head Christopher Wray gone.
  • While it’s unlikely to happen, these demands represent the fury and frustration of the Republican side right now.
