Former President Barack Obama made his reputation as being an “eco-warrior,” pushing environmental policy his entire administration.
But most of his “progress” came as heavy regulations that punished major industries and burdened Americans.
Obama is now a private citizen. Is he continuing to protect environmental goals?
Not if his “retirement” home is any indication:
After tearing down the site’s mansion made famous as the house from Magnum PI, developers are building three homes, two pools and a security perimeter on the three-acre beachfront parcel, permits show.
However, the century-old seawall on the property is set to remain, despite state policies designed to preserve Hawaii’s natural coastlines and environmental experts who say such structures cause coastal damage and beach erosion.
Obama is building a multi-million-dollar retirement home in Oahu, Hawaii. Construction is already underway.
To build his three houses, two pools, and security perimeter, he tore down the iconic mansion from Magnum PI.
But the real shocker is that he is able to shirk state environmental policy designed to preserve Hawaii’s natural coastlines.
Obama will not be removing and replacing a seawall that interferes with Hawaii’s coastline. Odd.
Apparently, there is a loophole that lets the wall remain, so long as the seller shells out $61,400.
So, it seems you don’t have to follow strict, left-wing environmental rules… as long as you have the cash to get out of them.
Obama was supposed to be a champion for the environment. Even these days, he frequently brings up the need for radical change in order to prevent cataclysmic disaster.
Yet this is the second time his actions (regarding homes) contradict his claims.
The Obamas purchased a home on Martha’s Vineyard. The lavish home is close to the water.
But hang on, isn’t the coastlines supposed to rise thanks to melting icecaps? Maybe not that far down South, eh Barry?
Now, Obama is buying his second waterfront home, but is again ignoring the very environmental rules he would praise from behind a microphone.
It seems Democrats demand rules for us, but refuse to follow themselves.
- Obama’s new retirement home in Hawaii is ignoring state environmental rules.
- He will not be tearing down a wall that disrupts the island’s natural coastline.
- The former president was able to get out of this rule by paying over $60,000.
