The impeachment trial of former President Donald Trump is over, and he has been acquitted for a second time. So obviously, Trump followers will consider this a win for Donald.
However, Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) says there’s an even bigger winner of the trial, and it’s not actually the former POTUS. In fact, it’s someone quite close to our last Commander-in-Chief.
And this person could soon play a very big role in politics.
Donald Trump avoided conviction for a second time over the weekend, and Republicans and Conservatives celebrated the victory. Trump’s family undoubtedly celebrated, too.
This includes Donald’s daughter-in-law, Lara Trump, and that’s exactly who benefits most from this acquittal.
Graham made the somewhat surprising statement when he spoke to Fox News’ Chris Wallace on Sunday morning.
He also revealed that Lara Trump could be “the future” of the GOP, and is already considering a career in political leadership.
Via The Daily Wire:
…the biggest winner I think of this whole impeachment trial, is Lara Trump.
My dear friend Richard Burr, who I like and have been friends to a long time, just made Lara Trump almost the certain nominee for the Senate seat in North Carolina to replace him if she runs.
I certainly will be behind her because I think she represents the future of the Republican Party, added Graham.
This is an important development, and one Trump fans are likely to support.
Burr won’t be seeking re-election as North Carolina’s senior senator in 2022, and many Conservatives will be happy to see him go. Primarily because he voted to convict Trump at the trial.
But his replacement could be someone very different, and very pro-Trump for obvious reasons: Lara.
Though she’s been flying under the radar, she has reportedly been considering a Senate run since November of last year. Perhaps right around the time of the presidential election.
Lara Trump would seemingly get plenty of support, too.
Former adviser to Donald Trump, Kellyanne Conway, told The New York Times that Lara would be a “formidable” candidate:
She has the trifecta: She can raise money, raise awareness of key issues, and raise attention to her race.
Unlike many typical politicians, she connects with people and is a compelling messenger.
The Times and Politico previously reported that Lara Trump might run for Senate in her home state, and don’t forget that she also served as an advisor to the president’s re-election campaign.
Conway added that Lara is “very charismatic” and “has a natural instinct for politics.”
So, maybe it’s a double whammy here — Democrats failed to impeach Donald Trump a second time and now, his daughter-in-law might have the inside track to a Senate seat.
- Sen. Lindsey Graham says there’s one big winner of the impeachment trial … and it isn’t Donald Trump.
- In fact, it’s his daughter-in-law, Lara, who has reportedly been considering a Senate run.
- Former Trump adviser Kellyanne Conway believes she’d be a “formidable” candidate, and “understands politics really well.”
