Texas Governor Blows Past President Biden – Abbott Officially Declares The Border Situation A Debacle

For months, several southern states have called out the Biden administration for its failure to act on the border issue. Many authorities claim the situation has only gotten worse.

Though Democrat leaders continue to claim there is no “crisis” at the border, border officials and state leaders say otherwise. They say that in fact, the whole mess is spinning out of control.

This includes Texas Governor Greg Abbott, who’s tired of waiting for Biden to act.

Abbott has been frustrated with the lack of action in 2021, and he has frequently asked the current administration for help. Border authorities have also requested more assistance as well.

But they claim they haven’t seen anything change.

The only thing that has changed, unfortunately, is the surge of foreign travelers pouring over the southern border, which Gov. Abbott says has directly impacted the lives of Texas residents.

Now, things have gotten so bad, Abbott has taken the next step (via The Daily Wire):

Texas Governor Greg Abbott announced Tuesday that illegal immigration into his state had reached crisis levels and declared the situation at the border a ‘disaster.’

It sounds like this state leader refuses to wait for help and is taking matters into his own hands. If he doesn’t, he feels concerned that absolutely nothing will happen in the immediate future.

The Governor made the declaration this week, and his statement reflected his anger and frustration with the Biden administration:

President Biden’s open-border policies have paved the way for dangerous gangs and cartels, human traffickers, and deadly drugs like fentanyl to pour into our communities.

Meanwhile, landowners along the border are seeing their property damaged and vandalized on a daily basis while the Biden Administration does nothing to protect them.

Gov. Abbott empowered state and local governments to use more state and national resources to deal with the problem.

In other words, he’s doing what he says the President should’ve done a while ago. He added that Texas “continues to step up to confront the border crisis in the federal government’s absence.

Now, the state will have better access to resources and strategies that will help protect landowners, and combat criminal activities.

Back in March, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) reported that foreign travelers were flooding into the U.S. in record numbers.

Biden then tapped Vice President Kamala Harris to look into the situation. But besides a virtual meeting with the President of Mexico, it appears that Harris hasn’t done much of anything.

To add to the border problem, the Biden administration officially ended former President Donald Trump’s “remain in Mexico” policy (though it hasn’t been in effect for some time).

Gov. Abbott and other border authorities say this contributes directly to the issues America faces at our southern border.

And if the administration refuses to do anything about it, states like Texas might have to take matters into their own hands. That’s precisely what Gov. Abbott did here.

Key Takeaways:

  • Texas Gov. Greg Abbott has declared the border situation a “disaster.”
  • The declaration means Texas now has access to more state and national resources to combat the influx of unregistered travelers.
  • Abbott slammed the Biden administration for its lack of action, and seeks to defend residents and landowners in his state.
