What’s Happening:

In Joe Biden’s America, anything that can create jobs and help working Americans is a good thing. Right? Thanks to Biden, inflation is hurting working families and leading to a painful recession. So, state governors should do everything in their power to land big deals that provide jobs for plenty of folks.

So, you can imagine the shock when Virginia Governor, Republican Glenn Youngkin put the brakes on a deal with Ford. The company was going to build a battery plant in Virginia worth $3.5 billion. Some estimated it would bring 2,500 jobs to the state. But the governor shut it down, to the outrage of Democrats.

But this is why he had to do it.

“We felt that the right thing to do was to not recruit Ford as a front for China to America,” Youngkin said last week…

“While Ford is an iconic American company, it became clear that this proposal would serve as a front for the Chinese Communist party, which could compromise our economic security and Virginians’ personal privacy,” Youngkin spokeswoman Macaulay Porter told the Richmond Times-Dispatch.

When the governor learned, in the final stages of the deal, that China would be profiting off this more than Ford, he shut it down. As it turns out, Ford was just the front for Contemporary Amperex Technology–a Chinese company. And, like all Chinese companies, it is owned by members of the Chinese Communist Party.

This deal would have been like rolling out the red carpet for Communist China to invade Virginia. Youngkin’s spokeswoman explained that this deal would have hurt the state’s economic security and allowed China to violate residents’ privacy.

We already know that China uses popular social app TikTok to gather incredible amounts of personal data from Americans. And it looks like China is using deals like this to gain data on state and local government–and who knows what else?

It might have been a tough call to shut down this deal, but Youngkin was saving Americans. Sure, Democrats will jump at the chance to take this deal instead. But just think about it. They will be opening the door to a hostile nation, to spy on Americans, influence policy, and funnel millions of dollars to another country.

Why should any good, American leader allow that?
