Many feel that there is a witch hunt against former President Donald Trump that has been ongoing for years in the state of Georgia. It’s been happening ever since Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis charged Trump with crimes related to alleged 2020 election interference.
Last year, Trump and 18 others were indicted in Fulton County on election fraud, racketeering, and other charges related to alleged efforts to overturn the 2020 election. The indictment alleged that those charged “refused to accept that Trump lost.” It added that they “knowingly and willfully joined a conspiracy to unlawfully change the outcome of the election in favor of Trump.”
Trump has pleaded not guilty to all of the counts against him. Now, Trump and his supporters have gotten some very good news in this case from a Georgia judge.
From Fox News:
A judge dismissed two criminal counts in the Georgia 2020 election interference case against former President Donald Trump and one other count against allies of the former president.Fulton County Judge Scott McAfee ruled that Georgia prosecutors had no authority to bring the charges, which related to alleged filing of false documents in federal court.
“President Trump and his legal team in Georgia have prevailed once again,” Trump attorney Steve Sadow said. “The trial court has decided that counts 15 and 27 in the indictment must be quashed/dismissed.”
Willis Suffers Multiple Setbacks
This comes months after Judge McAfee dismissed six of the charges against Trump. At the time, he said that Willis did not provide sufficient detail to back up the charges.
This also comes after it was revealed that Willis had an “improper affair” with prosecutor Nathan Wade. She had hired him to help her out with the case against Trump. Judge McAfee ended up allowing Willis to remain on the case if Wade resigned, which he did.
Willis suffered yet another setback in June. At the time, the Georgia Court of Appeals paused the proceedings until it hears the case to disqualify. That is set to happen next month. This same appeals court will hear Trump’s argument to have Willis disqualified one month after the 2024 presidential election. That hearing has been scheduled for December 5.
Judge McAfee’s latest decision to toss out multiple counts against Trump comes as no surprise, given how flimsy this case against him has been from the very beginning. Willis has long shown that she is far more interested in making a name for herself and endearing herself to the Democrat establishment than she is in actually being a fair prosecutor. Indeed, she’s willing to throw any charge she can at Trump in the hopes that something will stick.
The fact that Willis has been allowed to continue pursuing this case is a true travesty. In the end, the charges that Trump is facing in Georgia serve as a reminder of just how far the witch hunt against him has gone. There’s nothing that the left won’t do to take Trump down. That’s why it’s more important than ever that we ensure that Trump wins this presidential election by a landslide.
