Supreme Court Drops The Constitution On California – Justices Rule They Overstepped Bounds In Barring Church Services

What’s Happening:

Once again, the Golden State finds itself in hot water. If their governor is not facing a recall election, their other leaders are getting called out for breaking COVID restrictions (see: Nancy Pelosi, etc.).

Out of most states, California passed some of the most extreme lockdown rules. Schools and businesses? That was just the tip of the iceberg.

The First Amendment religious rights of residents were put in jeopardy. All thanks to Gov. Newsom’s orders locking down churches. Later, he passed more rules, preventing churches from literally worshipping.

Now, the Supreme Court once again ruled on a case out of CA. And the left is fuming.

From Axios:

The U.S. Supreme Court ruled that five California churches in Santa Clara County are exempt from a health directive prohibiting indoor gatherings, and are now permitted to resume services indoors…

The late Friday action is the latest in a string of orders directing state and local governments to whittle down public-health orders intended to stop the spread of the coronavirus.

The Supreme Court decided that Santa Clara County cannot bar churches from gathering indoors. This is the second time the Supreme Court ruled on a lawsuit brought by California churches.

In both cases, the court sided with these churches and the First Amendment.

Since the start of the COVID panic, Democrats have used the virus as an excuse to curtail American liberties.

Perhaps the worst of it was their attack on the right to worship. Democrats turned a blind eye to protests and even riots over the summer of 2020. Not once did they condemn protesters, who failed to meet even basic COVID precautions.

But these same Democrats came down hard on religious groups. The mayor of Chicago raided one church. The mayor of New York stormed a Jewish funeral.

And California’s governor kept restricting the free exercise of churches, a direct contradiction of the First Amendment.

Numerous cases like this have come before federal courts, including the Supreme Court. It appears the SCOTUS has sided with churches most of the time. They appear unwilling to make a decision that jeopardizes our most sacred right.

But there are still plenty of Americans suffering under Democrats and their strict lockdown rules. Perhaps the Supreme Court needs a case that addresses the entire country?

Key Takeaways:

  • The Supreme Court sided with churches from Santa Clara county.
  • The court ruled churches were allowed to meet indoor for worship.
  • California has some of the harshest COVID rules against churches.
