Democrats are growing more and more desperate.
They know they have a small window to “fundamentally” alter America. After 2022, they might not have power for years to come.
So, they are trying to ram through a bill that would destroy our election systems as we know it. The ironically titled “For the People” bill would make it much easier for less-than-honest people to cheat.
It seems only one Democrat is openly opposed to this bill, West Virginia’s Joe Manchin.
A group of left-wing civil rights activists tried to get him to bow the knee. And Manchin made himself clear.
From The Hill:
Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) said on Tuesday that he had a “constructive” meeting with a group of civil rights leaders but that he was unmoved on his opposition to a sweeping bill to overhaul federal elections…
Asked if the meeting changed his position on S.1, known as the For the People Act, he added: “No, I don’t think anybody changed positions on that.”
Sen. Joe Manchin, who hails from a deeply-red, pro-Trump state, was obviously respectful to the many black leaders he met with.
But he refused to budge on his stance that the Democrats’ voting bill is far too partisan to be supported.
I wonder what these “civil rights” leaders hoped to achieve with this meeting? Perhaps guilt this white man into embracing a bad piece of legislation?
Democrats claim that this bill will help minorities vote. Yet the bill itself makes it much easier for voter fraud to occur.
It eliminated voter ID, makes universal mail-ballots the norm, and other radical changes that put elections in the hands of the federal government, not the states.
Sadly, this bill is very anti-democratic.
Manchin appears unmoved in his view that the bill is just a partisan power grab. He has called on both parties to craft a bipartisan solution. But it appears few Democrats are willing to work with Republicans.
Without Manchin’s support in the Senate, Democrats do not have the votes to push this bill through.
I guess they’ll have to find another way of manipulating our elections.
- A number of liberal civil rights activists meet with Joe Manchin to push him to support their voting reform bill.
- Manchin thanked them for the meeting, but refused to change his view.
- The Democrat maintains that the leftist bill is too partisan to be supported.
