Fifteen Swing State Polls For 2020 Election Take A Hard Turn – Just Days After Biden Picks Kamala

What’s Happening:

For months, Joe Biden and his campaign had delayed picking a running mate.

Finally, in mid-August (just days before their convention), Biden’s team finally settled on CA Sen. Kamala Harris.

The announcement was praised by the left-leaning media. But what do Americans think?

Up until now, we only got people’s opinions in the media and on the Internet.

Now, a CNN poll is revealing a major shift… but it won’t be what Biden wants to hear:

Joe Biden’s lead over Donald Trump among registered voters has significantly narrowed since June, according to a new CNN poll conducted by SSRS…

Overall, 50% of registered voters back the Biden-Harris ticket, while 46% say they support Trump and Pence, right at the poll’s margin of error of plus or minus 4 percentage points…

Across 15 battleground states, the survey finds Biden has the backing of 49% of registered voters, while Trump lands at 48%.

The poll gap between Joe Biden and Donald Trump shrunk considerably since June, according to a CNN poll.

In swing states, the gap is uncomfortably close. For a CNN poll, this should be sounding alarm bells over in Camp Biden.

It’s troubling for several reasons.

First, the Democrats spent a long time trying to decide who should run alongside Biden. They settled on Harris, perhaps because they thought her gender and ethnicity would give them a bump.

Yet several polls suggest that black voters are not impressed with the senator, particularly because of her history as a cop and prosecutor.

There have also been murmurs among the Bernie Sanders camp. It seems they were hoping Biden would go with Sanders, considering how much Biden’s current platform has borrowed from the socialist.

The second reason this is shocking is that it’s coming from a CNN poll. We know that the polling system for elections has sparked plenty of criticism.

Just looking at 2016 will show you that many people who support Trump won’t tell a stranger about it over the phone (see: the Silent majority).

For a CNN poll to give the Trump/Biden race such close results, only a month after showing Biden running away with it, suggest Trump is in a much better position an they’re willing to admit.

That should have the Democrats pretty worried just as they start their big convention.

Key Takeaways:

  • A new CNN poll has revealed Biden’s lead over Trump has shrunk by double digits.
  • This comes after Biden announced Kamala Harris as his running mate.
  • Swing states are giving the race a 49/48 split.
