Fetterman Unloads Shock Demand on Democrat – And It Comes Hours After They Expel Santos

Last week, the House voted to expel Republican Rep. George Santos. It was a bipartisan outcome that saw the disgraced congressman removed from office.

It was the first time in twenty years that the House ejected one of its members. But public outcry forced the chamber’s hand after the scandal-ridden lawmaker was indicted.

The historic moment appears to have inspired a member of the upper chamber of Congress. Democrat Sen. John Fetterman was on The View to discuss the situation. And he is setting his targets on another member of Congress he wants expelled.

From The Post Millennial:
While appearing on ABC’s The View, Fetterman specifically called out Democrat Senator Bob Menendez who he accused of serving the people of Egypt, not New Jersey. Menendez was federally indicted on bribery charges in September…

“…I think the more important picture is that we have a colleague in the Senate that has actually done much more sinister and serious kinds of things. Senator Menendez. He needs to go.”

Joy Behar, one of the hosts of The View, pressed Fetterman for a response to the removal of Republican congressman George Santos. Instead of dwelling on that event, Fetterman pivots and discusses Sen. Bob Menendez.

Menendez is facing numerous charges related to allegations of bribery. The Democrat is being accused of colluding with Egyptian businessmen, taking cash and other gifts in exchange for special treatment.

Sen. Fetterman appears to be one of only a few members of the Senate demanding Menendez be voted out. Other Democrats had called on Menendez to resign. Instead, the indicted senator announced his 2024 re-election bid.

Fetterman has accused Menendez of being “really a Senator for Egypt.” Charges indicate Menendez lobbied for Egyptian citizens, apparently instead of citizens of the state he represents. Menendez had faced previous charges of corruption years ago but got off thanks to a mistrial.

The Pennsylvania senator asked how Congress could “expel Santos” but let “somebody like Menendez” remain in the upper chamber. It would require action from senators to see Menendez removed. And Chuck Schumer, the Senator Majority Leader, would have to support the measure.

But it is unclear if Democrats in the Senate will remove Menendez. They only have a slim majority and it is possible they will let the indicted senator remain in power, just to hold onto that lead.

It is notable that Fetterman is the only Democrat willing to speak out against Menendez. It appears he is not afraid of losing a Senate seat if it means the “Senator of Egypt” is ousted.

Key Takeaways:

  • John Fetterman is calling for Sen. Bob Menendez to be removed from office.
  • This comes soon after the House voted to expel Rep. George Santos.
  • Menendez is facing federal charges over allegations of taking bribes from Egypt.
