I think it’s safe to say that few Americans trust the highest law enforcement agency in the law. In recent years, we’ve learned that top officials within the FBI have abused their power to push their political goals. The FBI persecuted Trump, to help Democrats. They protected Joe Biden by not investigating his son.
But that is just the tip of the iceberg of how FBI officials bent the rules in support of its own agenda. With each passing day, we are learning how this branch of the DOJ has violated constitutional limits to its power. A new court order has revealed just how bad it has gotten.

The FBI abused its surveillance powers while spying on suspects in the Jan. 6, 2021, breach of the U.S. Capitol and Black Lives Matter protesters, a federal court said in a newly unsealed ruling.
FBI agents violated standards the agency developed for the Section 702 program, which enables spying on Americans and others, more than 278,000 times, the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court said in the 2022 ruling, which was made public for the first time on May 19.
According to a court ruling from 2022, the FBI was violating the privacy of Americans. But only this week has the ruling been unsealed for the public to see. The FBI was spying on Americans, reading their emails–a violation of constitutional privacy protections.
It’s getting so bad, that even liberal media pundits are getting ticked off.

Todd added, “Trust in the FBI is eroding left and right. Feels like we’re in the moment that we need a real Church Committee. This is a moment like when the J. Edgar Hoover FBI clearly was no longer helping the American people. There was a moment. This feels like we might be in one of those moments.”
Liberal NBC host Chuck Todd admitted that the FBI’s abuses are getting out of hand. He was cagey about admitting how bad it’s gotten, but even he said that the FBI needs a “church committee.” Meaning, the agency needs some kind of oversight and reform, in order for Americans to trust it again.
Todd might reduce the FBI’s crimes to “confirmation bias.” But the truth of the matter is, top officials are abusing their power and undermining justice. A group that should be protecting Americans and stopping crime is instead treating Americans like criminals. Real crimes are being ignored as FBI agents spy on American citizens.
