Fulton County District Attorney Fani Williams has spent years engaging in what can only be described as a massive witch hunt against Donald Trump. Unfortunately for Willis, however, this is now backfiring on her in a big way.
Back in March, the watchdog group Judicial Watch filed a lawsuit against Willis. The group did this after Willis’ office claimed not to have any documents and communications on file between Willis and special counsel Jack Smith. Willis’ office also alleged that they didn’t have communications between her and the U.S. House January 6 Committee.
This all turned out to be a big lie, as Willis’ office did indeed have such communications. On Monday, Fulton County Superior Court Judge Robert McBurney ruled that Willis has just five days to hand over all communications with Smith and the January 6 Committee.

“Plaintiff is thus entitled to judgment by default as if every item and paragraph of the complaint were supported by proper and sufficient evidence,” McBurney wrote in his decision, while also ordering her to pay Judicial Watch’s attorney’s fees. “Here, this means Plaintiff has established that Defendant violated the ORA by failing to either turn over responsive records or else notify Plaintiff of her decision to withhold some or all such records.”“Fani Willis is something else. We’ve been doing this work for 30 years, and this is the first time in our experience a government official has been found in default for not showing up in court to answer an open records lawsuit,” Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton said. “Judicial Watch looks forward to getting any documents from the Fani Willis operation about collusion with the Biden administration and Nancy Pelosi’s Congress on her unprecedented and compromised ‘get-Trump’ prosecution.”
This came after Willis failed to comply with a request under the Open Records Act (ORA). Willis has tried to claim that she was not properly served.
Judge McBurney, however, wasn’t having any of it. Indeed, he ruled that she “never offered up a meritorious defense.”
Willis Charged Trump
In 2023, Willis charged Trump and 18 others in connection to a racketeering indictment related to them allegedly trying to overturn the 2020 presidential election in Georgia. She specifically charged Trump with one count of violation of the Georgia RICO Act and three counts of criminal solicitation.
Willis also hit him with six counts of criminal conspiracy, one count of filing false documents, and two counts of making false statements. Trump and his fellow defendants pleaded not guilty to all charges.
The charges against Trump have yet to be dropped. However, the case has been paused while the president-elect appeals a Fulton County judge’s decision not to disqualify Willis as a prosecutor on this legal proceeding.
Meanwhile, in a filing on Wednesday, Trump’s legal team called for this case to be dismissed. They argued that now that Trump is the president-elect, the state no longer has jurisdiction.
“A sitting president is completely immune from indictment or any criminal process, state or federal,” argued Trump attorney Steven Sadow.
It certainly doesn’t seem like it’s very fun to be Fani Willis right now! We’re glad to see that she’s finally getting exactly what she deserves. This is what we call karma, folks!
