Americans learned the hard way that our medical industry relies too much on China.
Most of our drugs and equipment are made in China. Yet the foreign country was hoarding supplies during the height of the pandemic.
China even threatened to cut us off, refusing to sell us needed supplies. Many lawmakers started to agree we need to start making much more in this country.
So, President Trump is signing an order that will jumpstart America’s medical supply industry:
President Trump will sign an executive order on Thursday that seeks to return production of medicine and medical supplies to the US.
White House trade adviser Peter Navarro said the order is “pure Trump” because it requires agencies to buy American products, streamlines regulations and seeks to promote high-tech innovation to lower drug costs.
The new order will require federal agencies to buy American-made medical products and supplies.
That will jumpstart American companies that make these supplies, providing them with the cash to expand.
This is a brilliant move because it will encourage companies to start producing medical supplies, to get the business. Some might even start new companies to meet the new demand.
As American companies earn more from this order, they will attract new customers, including hospitals and private practices. Soon, they will become a leading provider of supplies within the United States.
The order also streamlines government regulations, which often hinder companies from actually producing goods and making a profit.
President Trump is also promoting “high-tech innovation” that will lower drug costs.
That might include new technology that can increase the production of supplies, lowering costs. He has previously championed telemedicine, which made it easier for patients to communicate with doctors.
This order can go a long way in reducing our dependence on Chinese-made medical supplies. American companies will be eager to expand their production.
Trump recently signed a deal to invest in Kodak, for the production of generic drug ingredients. Expect more companies to start producing medicine and supplies, in order to earn agencies’ businesses.
- President Trump will sign an order to boost the production of U.S.-made medical supplies.
- The order will require agencies to buy from American makers, instead of Chinese.
- Previously, Trump has spurred numerous innovations in the medical field.
