President Joe Biden went back on his word by pardoning his disgraced son Hunter on Sunday night. This came as a shock to many, as Joe had repeatedly promised not to pardon his son.
When asked back in June if he had “ruled out a pardon” for his son, Joe emphatically replied, “Yes.”
“I abide by the jury decision. I will do that and I will not pardon him,” Joe said at the time as Hunter was facing trial in the Delaware gun case.
Joe has frequently repeated the phrase “no one is above the law” when talking about the legal cases against Donald Trump. In issuing this pardon, however, Joe sent the message that his own family is, in fact, above the law.
Elon Musk, the CEO of X (formerly Twitter), is responding to this by having some fun at Joe’s expense. Indeed, he just slapped a fact-check on Joe that hits the president right where it hurts!
From The New York Post:
Elon Musk is among those mocking President Biden’s shocking hypocrisy in granting son Hunter a pardon — noting how fact-checkers on X flagged the president for saying that “no one is above the law.”Biden’s tweet from May, an attack on now-President-elect Donald Trump, went viral after the commander-in-chief announced late Sunday that he was giving a total pardon to his troubled son after repeatedly insisting he would not interfere with justice.
It now has a community note warning readers: “President Joe Biden pardoned his son, Hunter Biden, for crimes covering nearly 11 years of ‘offenses against the United States which he has committed or may have committed or taken part in during the period from January 1, 2014 through December 1, 2024.’”
The fact-check read, “By pardoning his son Hunter, not merely for a single crime, but for actual or potential crimes he may or may not have created over an eleven-year period, Joe Biden has made clear that some people are, in fact, above the law.”
Musk shared a screenshot of this along with the simple caption, “Community Notes slays.”

Hunter’s Past Charges
Back in June, Hunter was found guilty of three federal gun charges. He had been charged with possession of a firearm while addicted to illegal drugs. Three months later, Hunter pleaded guilty to nine counts tied to bilking Americans of $1.4 million in taxes.
When issuing his pardon on Sunday, however, Joe claimed that Hunter was “singled out only because he is my son.”
“Without aggravating factors like use in a crime, multiple purchases, or buying a weapon as a straw purchaser, people are almost never brought to trial on felony charges solely for how they filled out a gun form,” Joe continued. “Those who were late paying their taxes because of serious addictions, but paid them back subsequently with interest and penalties, are typically given non-criminal resolutions. It is clear that Hunter was treated differently.”
“In trying to break Hunter, they’ve tried to break me — and there’s no reason to believe it will stop here,” the outgoing president added. “Enough is enough.”
So much for no one is above the law!
In the end, Joe pardoning his criminal son on his way out the door cements him as one of the worst presidents of all time. We applaud Musk for fact-checking Joe and calling him out on his hypocrisy!
Key Takeaways:
- Musk fact-checks Joe Biden’s post, saying, “No one is above the law.”
- Musk did this after Joe pardoned his son Hunter.
- Joe had said many times that he wouldn’t pardon Hunter, yet he did so anyway.
