When Joe Biden entered office, some taxpayers were worried. The career politician was likely going to use his power to pass massive spending bills that would burn up tax dollars but may not actually achieve anything tangible. And many say this is exactly what happened: Biden’s administration has spent trillions of dollars within the last few years.
And we could ask, what do we have for that? Well, it seems we’ve got, among other things, a wide open border, raging crime, rampant inflation, and two wars overseas.
But one of the biggest failures of the Biden administration has only come to light this week. The Washington Times pointed out how Biden allocated $42 billion to a project that could have helped countless Americans—especially conservatives in rural areas. Now, tech billionaire Elon Musk is pointing out what really happened.
From The Blaze:
Billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk ridiculed the Biden administration for spending more than $42 billion while failing to provide high-speed internet to any home or business after three years. The Washington Times reported the abject failure of the Broadband Equity Access and Deployment program, which was supposed to provide internet to rural communities. The BEAD program was a part of President Joe Biden’s $1.2 trillion Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act that was passed in Nov. 2021…
“There hasn’t been a single shovel’s worth of dirt that has even been turned towards connecting people,” said Federal Communications Commissioner Brendan Carr.
This government program is an outrageous waste of taxpayer money and is utterly failing to serve people in need https://t.co/ImCur1CBCq

President Biden spent $42 billion to bring high-speed Internet access to rural communities; these are underserved areas because companies don’t want to invest the money. But despite spending this money, nobody has received Internet access. The FCC admitted that not a “single shovel’s worth of dirt” has been turned over for this project.
Perhaps it isn’t a huge surprise that this program would’ve helped areas with higher percentages of conservatives. We all know that most folks who live outside big cities tend to hold to traditional American values. But maybe Biden isn’t bending over backward to help Americans who will go on to vote for Republicans—despite claiming he is everyone’s president.
Musk blasted Biden’s failure, calling it “an outrageous waste” of tax dollars. Musk owns Starlink, a company that provides high-speed satellite Internet to the far corners of the globe, so he knows a thing or two about providing Internet access to difficult places. Of course, Biden didn’t seek his help in this project and according to one post, for $42 billion, the government could have bought Starlink dishes for 140 million people—far more than those in rural areas.
Key Takeaways:
- Joe Biden spent $42 billion to provide Internet access to rural America, failing to deliver on this promise.
- Not a single home has been connected despite three years passing.
- Elon Musk blasted this failure as an outrageous waste of tax dollars.
