Elon Musk’s 2024 Pick Is In: He Plans to Vote Republican, But He’s Not Leaning Toward Trump

When billionaire Elon Musk revealed earlier this year that he planned to switch teams, it didn’t come as a huge shock to right-wing citizens. After all, Musk had been very vocal in slamming the Biden administration.

So he does intend to abandon the Democrat Party and vote Republican in upcoming elections, including the 2024 presidential election.

However, he’s not leaning toward the candidate everyone anticipated.

In May, Musk announced he’d cast a ballot for Republican candidates in the midterm elections because he wants “more centrist candidates” in the field. In his view, there aren’t many options among Democrats.

He also voted for GOP upstart Mayra Flores, who just won her special election for Texas’s 34th Congressional District. It’s the first time he ever voted red, but he’s on board with the “red wave” this year.

In the past, Musk has stood up for former President Donald Trump, and several times called for his reinstatement on Twitter. That’s why many assumed Musk would vote for Trump if he ran in 2024.

But that doesn’t seem to be the case.

Instead, Musk is thinking about voting for the other popular Conservative leader in the U.S. today — and he’s arguably the most popular GOP Governor, too.

Silicon Valley Tesla owners club asked Musk who he intended to vote for in the 2024 election and Musk replied:

DeSantis teamed up with Musk in railing against Twitter, so this response does make sense.

Musk added that he while he once supported Democrat Andrew Yang, he’s shifting his views and believes that the Florida governor is the man for the job. He also thinks “DeSantis has a better chance of winning.”

Some Republican leaders agree with Musk, claiming DeSantis is a smarter, safer choice than the controversial Trump.

But either way, Musk going with the GOP is a definite change for him, and reminds the world that many influential individuals are changing their political stances. Musk is only one of many, it would appear.

So far, Trump has not confirmed that he’ll run again in 2024, and DeSantis hasn’t officially thrown his hat in the ring, either. But after the midterms, expect some formal announcements.

Key Takeaways:

  • Elon Musk has revealed his potential pick for the 2024 presidential election.
  • Instead of going for former President Donald Trump, Musk is leaning toward Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.
  • Musk also voted for recent GOP winner Mayra Flores in Texas (the first time he ever voted Republican), and thinks DeSantis “has a better chance of winning” in 2024.
