One American sanctuary city has defied all odds, deciding to give 40 special illegals a total of $100,000 worth of taxpayer funds.
Are these funds they deserve? Or should taxpayer dollars go to the benefit of taxpayers?
The answer should be clear, but liberals somehow always get it wrong.
So instead of giving the money back to the taxpayers, liberals are instead giving it to a group of illegals who deserve to be deported.
The Blaze reports:
The city of Baltimore has approved a plan to dedicate $200,000 to pay for the legal expenses of illegal immigrants facing deportation.
Mayor Catherine Pugh announced the plan on March 7.
“We’re not making a decision as to their status,” Pugh said. “We’re making the decision to be supportive of individuals who live in our city.”
Ok, so Pugh wants to be supportive of the folks that live in her city.
Then what about all of the rampant problems that the residents of Baltimore have to deal with on a daily basis?
Wouldn’t it make sense to actually put some effort forth to attempt to solve them?
Apparently not.
The plan calls for the city government to supply $100,000 in taxpayer money, which will be matched by a $100,000 grant from the nonprofit Vera Institute of Justice. The Vera Institute will also advise on which lawyers the city should hire, and supply research and technical assistance.
City Council President Bernard C. “Jack” Young argued that the plan would actually save the city money over time, by preventing it from having to care for children whose parents have been deported.
That $200,000 is expected to cover the legal expenses for 40 illegal immigrants.
Among the many problems that the city is facing are a rampant crime problem, an alarmingly high murder rate, and serious funding problems for its public school system.
Those are just three of the items that should be at the top of the priority list, but Pugh and friends have decided that providing even more financial support to illegals outweighs those needs.
We would laugh if it wasn’t true, but we’re unfortunately forced to walk away shaking our heads with a rather nauseous feeling in our stomachs instead.
