After Border Crosser Sneaks into the U.S. 3 Times in a Row, A Federal Judge Finally Drops the Gavel

The illegal immigration issue remains a huge priority for millions of Americans, and same goes for the revolving door of justice.

With the report that over 1 million unauthorized travelers came into the U.S. in 2021, and Texas declaring an “invasion,” the crisis appears very real.

Now, at least one federal judge is finally saying “no” to a repeat offender.

Reynaldo Mejia-Mejia, 33, was arrested in March after trying to get on a plane in St. Croix, Virgin Islands. The plane was headed to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.

Mejia-Mejia used a bogus driver’s license and also gave authorities a phony name.

After a fingerprint scan, U.S. Customs and Border Patrol found out that he’d been deported not once but twice — in 2018 and 2019.

But this judge says “three strikes and you’re out.”

Via The Daily Wire:

A federal judge has sentenced a Dominican national to nine months of incarceration followed by deportation for illegally entering the country despite already being removed from the U.S. on two previous occasions.

U.S. District Judge Wilma Lewis added a year of supervised release after the jail time, and isn’t allowed back in the nation until he gets permission from the Attorney General or DHS.

This feels like a small but important victory in the battle against our porous southern border.

The aforementioned 1 million illegals from 2021 doesn’t count the 800,000 that evaded authorities entirely, so the situation is even more dire than expected.

Records are falling in this area, and Republican leaders and border officials accuse the Biden administration of doing very little to combat the crisis.

In fact, they want to try giving temporary IDs to illegals when they arrive at the border so it will be easier for them to obtain state benefits.

This will undoubtedly be a major debate topic in future elections, and many experts say the border crisis could hurt Democrat chances in the midterm elections.

Key Takeaways:

  • A federal judge dropped the gavel on an illegal immigrant who tried getting into the U.S. 3 times.
  • The Dominican national faces 9 months of jail time and deportation.
  • This comes during historic border issues, which are bound to have an impact on elections.
