DHS Head Enforces Alien Registration Act, Requiring Migrants Fingerprinted by Gov

America’s immigration system has been a disaster for far too long. Open borders, catch-and-release policies, and sanctuary cities have made a mockery of our laws. The previous administration seemed determined to roll out the red carpet for anyone who wanted to stroll across the border.

Remember when following the law actually meant something? When coming to America meant respecting our sovereignty and our legal processes? Those days seemed long gone. Until now.

DHS Announces Mandatory Registry for Undocumented Immigrants

Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem just dropped a bombshell. She’s enforcing a long-ignored law that will fundamentally change how America handles illegal immigration. The announcement? All undocumented immigrants must now register with the federal government.

From ‘The Post Millennial’:

“The Alien Registration Act says that within 30 days of being in this country illegally, someone must register with the federal government, they will be fingerprinted,” Noem said.

This isn’t a new law. It’s been on the books since 1940. But unlike previous administrations that chose to ignore it, the Trump administration is actually enforcing it.

In her announcement, Noem made the requirements crystal clear: “They must announce that they are here. And if they do so, they can avoid criminal charges and fines, and we will help them relocate right back to their home country.”

No more hiding in the shadows. No more sanctuary cities providing cover. The message is simple: register or face consequences.

How the Registration Process Works

The registry applies to all undocumented immigrants aged 14 and older who have been in the United States for 30 days or longer. Parents or guardians must register children under 14.

After creating an account on the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services website, individuals must appear for fingerprinting.

The DHS will then issue “evidence of registration” documentation that all undocumented migrants over 18 “must carry and keep in their possession at all times.”

It’s basic accountability, something sorely lacking in our immigration system.

Those who comply with the process will avoid criminal charges and receive assistance returning to their home countries. And yes, there’s a pathway back – the legal way.

“What that provides for them is a safer environment,” Noem explained on Fox News. “It’s safer for our communities. It saves us taxpayer dollars. And it allows them an opportunity to come back to this country and to be an American and to live the American dream.”

Consequences for Non-Compliance

Think the registry is optional? Think again. Those who fail to register face misdemeanor charges, fines up to $1,000, and up to six months in jail. And that’s just for starters.

This isn’t the first time this authority has been used. After 9/11, President George W. Bush employed similar measures, which aided in the deportation of thousands of people who were in the country illegally. The Trump administration is simply dusting off a proven tool.

DHS spokesperson Tricia McLaughlin didn’t mince words: “President Trump and Secretary Noem have a clear message for those in our country illegally: leave now. The Trump administration will enforce all our immigration laws—we will not pick and choose which laws we will enforce.”

Restoring Order to America’s Immigration System

This registry represents more than just another immigration policy. It’s about restoring the fundamental principle that a nation must know who is within its borders.

“We must know who is in our country for the safety and security of our homeland and all Americans,” McLaughlin stated. It’s a principle so basic that it’s astounding we’ve gone this long without enforcing it.

The website where people can register already states clearly: “No alien will have an excuse for failure to comply with this law. Registration is not an immigration status, and registration documentation does not establish employment authorization or any other right or benefit.”

In other words: the free ride is over. The days of selective enforcement are done. America is getting serious about its immigration laws again.

Key Takeaways:

  • All undocumented immigrants must register or face stiff penalties – finally enforcing a law that’s been on the books since 1940.
  • The registry creates accountability while providing a path for legal return – prioritizing rule of law over chaos.
  • By using tools successfully deployed after 9/11, the Trump administration is putting national security first.
