For decades Democrats took for granted key voting blocks during national elections. They have depended on minority voters casting ballots their way without question.
What has changed this presidential election cycle is that these key demographics that once easily propelled Democrats toward victory have been crushed under Joe Biden’s economy. People are suffering financially despite what the Biden administration says, and they plan on voting accordingly.
One of the most faithful voting demographics for Democrats in the past has been Hispanic voters. But that has changed, and a Hispanic Republican warned that Democrats are in trouble especially after the International Transgender Day of Visibility debacle.
From the Daily Caller:
“This whole issue of Trans Awareness Day over Easter would not bode well, especially in the community, of which I so proudly represent – which is largely Catholic and Christian,” Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL) said. “So when they do this, it’s intentional. They are losing the Hispanic American vote in droves. I’m happy to say, because of that I do believe Trump will be winning in November.”
Luna was responding to questions from Laura Ingraham on “The Ingraham Angle” regarding the administration’s reasoning for leaving off a Spanish translation of the administration’s post regarding the visibility day landing on Easter Sunday. Luna said not providing the translation was intentional because the administration is trying to get back the Hispanic voting bloc, particularly those of Mexican descent which is now the largest voting minority in the country.
Luna said the Biden administration has a history of disrespecting Hispanic Americans. This has been displayed ever since Joe Biden played the Spanish hit song “Despacito” while speaking at a Hispanic Heritage Month event and when Jill Biden compared Hispanics as “unique” as tacos.
Luna explained that the top three issues for Hispanics are inflation, jobs, and the economy. This is the reality voters are facing leading into November, she said, and Hispanics are going to be looking at the message of the Republican Party and of former President Donald Trump versus this administration.
She also pointed to ways Democrats appear to be attempting to sway the election through censorship, including buying conservative Spanish media outlets. Republicans in 2022 tried to stop a Soros-funded news company led by former Democratic staffers called the Latino Media Network from purchasing 18 Spanish-language radio stations for roughly $60 million. The attempt to stop the purchase failed.
Polls have shown that Democrat efforts to regain lost Hispanic votes are failing as Trump continues to make gains in this key demographic. Polls have repeatedly shown Trump with leads from slightly favored by Hispanics to holding a six-point advantage.
Losing the Hispanic vote alone could shift the election to Trump, not to mention he has made similar positive gains among other key demographics such as black and independent voters.
Key Takeaways:
- Donald Trump continued his surprise gains against Biden among Hispanic voters.
- Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL) said Hispanics are leaving Democrats in “droves.”
- Luna said Democrats’ attempts to sway Hispanic votes have been disrespectful.
