When GOP Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks won her Iowa election by a tiny margin of 6 votes, everyone took notice.
Republicans celebrated the narrow victory, of course, but some Democrats quickly questioned the razor-thin win.
For example, Miller-Meeks’ Democrat opponent, Rita Hart, is contesting the results.
And on top of that, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said she’d support a push to look further into the election, if Dems wanted to go that direction.
However, this idea isn’t getting the support she might’ve thought she’d get.
One Democrat says he really thinks it’s “time to move on.”
Via Fox News:
Rep. Chris Pappas of New Hampshire, in a statement Monday evening to Fox News, said the election had been decided.
‘This election result was certified by the State of Iowa and Rep. Miller-Meeks was sworn in nearly three months ago.
As I said when Republicans challenged the Electoral College votes on January 6th, the election is over and it’s time to move on.’
Miller-Meeks won by just 6 votes out of almost 400,000 total votes cast, and she now represents Iowa’s 2nd Congressional District.
And at least one Democrat does not support further inquiry into the results.
Pappas added that he “looks forward to working with Rep. Miller-Meeks on the House Veterans’ Affairs Committee.
Then Rep. Dean Phillips took to Twitter and said:
Losing a House election by six votes is painful for Democrats. But overturning it in the House would be even more painful for America. Just because a majority can, does not mean a majority should. https://t.co/pXaOYBIMue

The controversy surrounding elections and voting will likely continue after last year’s hotly contested presidential race.
And every time there’s a tight decision, you can bet that one side or the other is going to take issue with the results.
But in this case, it looks like that 6-vote margin is going to stand up.
Not all Democrats support the idea of challenging the results just because their party lost, which is a bit of a slight against Pelosi.
And in the end, it’s a significant win for Republicans.
- House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said she might support an investigation into a tight Congressional race.
- But at least one Democrat doesn’t back the idea. Rep. Chris Pappas says “it’s time to move on.”
- It’s likely that any tight election from here on out will create plenty of questions and controversy.
