Another high-ranking Democrat has been implicated in a scandal, and the allegations could cause a major election upset.

The politician’s reported misconduct is unwelcome news to an already struggling Democratic Party. The Left has lost 8 out of 9 special elections for the House that have taken place since President Trump has been in office.

On top of that, they’ve lost several prominent politicians in Congress over harassment claims, including long-term Representative John Conyers of Michigan and Senator Al Franken of Minnesota.

Now another Minnesota politician is in hot water. The deputy DNC chair and first black Muslim elected to Congress is facing serious charges just days before his primary race for attorney general.

A former girlfriend of U.S. Rep. Keith Ellison has accused him of domestic violence, which Ellison — a DFL candidate for Minnesota attorney general — denied on Sunday.

The alleged incident between Ellison and Karen Monahan came to light Saturday night after her son posted about it on Facebook. She then confirmed it on Twitter. Ellison responded Sunday in a statement released by his campaign: “Karen and I were in a relationship which ended in 2016, and I still care deeply for her well-being.”

Monahon’s son’s posted a statement describing Ellison’s abuse of his mother. The full post is below. It’s lengthy, but in it he shares what he uncovered about Ellison while on his mother’s computer.

I clicked on a file, I found over 100 text and twitters messages and video almost 2 min long that showed Keith Ellison dragging my mama off the bed by her feet, screaming and calling her a “f*cking bitch” and telling her to get the f*ck out of his house. 

Ellison denied the allegations, and said there’s no proof to back up the claims that he dragged Monahan off a bed.

“This video does not exist because I never behaved in this way, and any characterization otherwise is false.”

Monahan on the other hand supports her son’s claims, and doubled down on them.

“Every statement he made was true.” Monahan wrote on Twitter.

“You know you did that to me. I have given every opportunity to get help and heal. Even now, u r willing to say my son is lying and have me continue to leak more text and info just so others will believe him.”

She then went into graphic detail about their turbulent relationship.

This isn’t the first time a former girlfriend of Ellison’s has come forward with abuse allegations.

In 2006, a woman named Amy Alexander wrote an article stating that Ellison, who was married at the time, began a relationship with her, which quickly led to Alexander being physically and mentally abused.

“Keith belittled me about my weight and constantly criticized my every word and action.” 

Alexander also stated that her relationship with Ellison turned violent.

“[H]e came to my home uninvited. We had words. His anger kicked in. He berated me. He grabbed me and pushed me out of the way. I was terrified. I called the police. As he fled he broke my screen door.”
