Joe Biden has suffered from poor approval ratings from the American public. Despite this, Democrats have been reluctant to publicly criticize him. Only a handful believe Biden should face a primary challenger. And few Democrats outside border towns have confronted the White House over perhaps its most devastating policy.
Democrats seem to have ignored the border crisis–until it ended up affecting their states. Numerous liberal mayors have started complaining about large influxes of migrants entering their cities–due to Republican governors busing them up North. In one major city, the crisis has overrun parks, shelters, and schools. The mayor has been vocally critical of Joe Biden. And now, the White House is striking back.
From The Post Millennial:
Federal officials, however, have argued that Adams is at fault, accusing him of not having a plan beyond simply putting people in temporary shelters…
…Senior DHS official told [NBC News] that Adams’ response was inadequate. New York is a “sanctuary city” with a “right to shelter” law in place, meaning that the city must provide shelter to those who seek it.
New York City has seen a large influx of migrants in recent months. The city has “sanctuary” laws in place, meaning law enforcement is not allowed to report illegal aliens to federal authorities for deportation. Not that such a move would result in deportation, given Biden’s unwillingness to enforce immigration law.
Mayor Adams has complained about the growing number of migrants overwhelming his city. The number still pales in comparison to the hundreds of thousands of border crossers that have entered states like Texas or Arizona.
Adams has criticized everyone from Gov. Abbott to Joe Biden. Recently, however, the DHS sent a team to assess New York’s problem. A representative accused Mayor Adams of failing to provide adequate shelter for migrants.
New York has housed migrants in luxury hotels, many of which have been destroyed. The city has also built shelters in schools, parks, and playing fields–all of which are now full. Biden’s only support, it seems, has been to recommend moving migrants to other cities or states, including New Jersey’s Atlantic City.
The governor of New Jersey, foreseeing its own crisis, has refused to accept migrants from neighboring New York.
It appears Democrats are warring over what to do with the millions of migrants Biden has allowed to enter the country. Biden has granted asylum status, it seems, to everyone–with their cases not being decided for 5 years or longer.
Neither Adams nor Biden are willing to discuss deportation as a solution. Yet cities are running out of resources and the administration is pointing fingers. It appears the problem will only get worse before a real solution is implemented.
- The Biden administration has blamed NYC Mayor Adams for the migrant crisis.
- The DHS claims Adams has failed to provide adequate support for the tens of thousands of migrants flooding the city.
- Joe Biden is largely to blame for the migrant crisis; his administration is refusing to deport illegal immigrants.
