It was recently announced the three journalists who would be moderating the presidential debates.
While it’s nice to know that CNN anchors were snubbed, one name on the list should bother some people.
Hard-hitting Chris Wallace from Fox News will head the first with liberal Kristen Welker from NBC helming the third.
But the man moderating the second debate from C-SPAN? Steve Scully. You might assume that C-SPAN would provide a non-partisan.
In this case, he might have to be ruled out. Here’s part of his bio from Columbian College:
While attending college, he served as an intern in the office of Delaware Sen. Joseph R. Biden, and later a staff assistant in Sen. Edward M. Kennedy’s communication office.
According to Scully’s own biography, he interned in Joe Biden’s Delaware office. How many non-partisan future journalists work for a Democrat?
Not that many.
He also worked for Ted Kennedy’s communication’s office. Clearly, Scully has close ties to the left—including one of the men debating!
What’s interesting to note is that, after it became known that Scully was a Biden intern, Wikipedia or its users scrubbed that information from his page.
Funny how that is. I thought Wikipedia was an unbiased encyclopedia of knowledge? Why are they people removing information that clearly raises questions?
Think about it. Most people might assume that a reporter like Welker would show some bias during the third debate.
But a former intern? Will Scully even bother hitting Biden with tough questions? What about the worry that he might leak the questions to Biden ahead of time?
(They did in 2016, to help Hillary debate Bernie Sanders.)
This should have people asking if Scully has a conflict of interest. A debate moderate needs to be impartial, so he/she can fairly ask the questions.
Something tells me a former intern might be a bit biased.
Do you think a former Biden intern should be moderating his debate with President Trump?
- The three moderates have been announced for the presidential debates.
- The second moderator is Steve Scully, who once interned under Biden in college.
- Wikipedia deleted this information from his page, once news started to spread.
