It’s safe to say that Elon Musk has big plans for his social network. X, formerly Twitter, has grown under the businessman’s leadership. He has fought to protect free speech on the platform and is working to make X a top place for users online.
He recently surprised X users by inking a deal with former CNN host Don Lemon. Lemon was fired from the liberal network after numerous accusations of harassment arose.
Lemon filmed his first show for the social network. But soon after, Musk canceled the deal. The liberal host was outraged and attacked Musk. That’s when Elon fired back with a brutal response.
From Fox News:
X owner Elon Musk is defending his decision to cancel his platform’s partnership with Don Lemon, claiming the former anchor was approaching his forthcoming show as “CNN, but on social media.”…“His approach was basically just ‘CNN, but on social media’, which doesn’t work, as evidenced by the fact that CNN is dying,” Musk told an X user Wednesday. “And, instead of it being the real Don Lemon, it was really just Jeff Zucker talking through Don, so lacked authenticity. All this said, Lemon/Zucker are of course welcome to build their viewership on this platform along with everyone else.”

Don Lemon complained after Musk ended his deal with the liberal host. Lemon’s spokesperson even threatened legal action against Musk, although the terms of the deal are not known.
Musk blasted Lemon, saying his new show was just “CNN, but on social media.” He even said Don sounded like “Jeff Zucker,” the disgraced former president of CNN.
It appears Musk is criticizing Lemon for doing the same thing he did on the liberal-biased news network. Musk has championed free speech and free thought on his network. But if Lemon is going to push the same tired liberal talking points, why even bother?
CNN, MSNBC, ABC, CBS, and all the other networks already do that. Lemon had a chance to speak his mind, openly, without cooperate interference. According to Musk, he refused to do that.
Musk maintained that Lemon and CNN are free to use X—but it doesn’t look like Musk is willing to work on promoting biased propaganda.
Key Takeaways:
- Elon Musk canceled a deal with Don Lemon after his first episode.
- Musk accused Lemon of doing CNN but on social media.
- Musk has fought to create a free speech haven online.
