Patriots have been disappointed in recent weeks and months with the Supreme Court.
The court, which enjoys a conservative majority, has either been giving Democrats big wins or refusing to take up important cases.
From time to time, conservative justices have published dissents, after Roberts and the left-wing of the court rejected a case.
But rarely does Clarence Thomas, respected and accomplished justice, speak his mind. But a recent decision by the court was so shocking, he had to make his mind known.
From Daily Wire:
Justice Clarence Thomas issued a vigorous dissent Monday in response to the Supreme Court’s decision not to hear a challenge against the Pennsylvania state court’s ruling that permitted ballots to be counted even if they were received three days after Election Day…
“We failed to settle this dispute before the election, and thus provide clear rules. Now we again fail to provide clear rules for future elections… Our fellow citizens deserve better and expect more of us. I respectfully dissent.”
Thomas criticized the court for refusing to hear the case regarding ballots in Pennsylvania.
He admitted taking up the case now would not change history. The 2020 Election is over.
But he rebuked the court for settling what will be an on-going battle for future elections.
Confusion over late-entry mail-in ballots can have a profound impact on election results. The court refused to settle the issue before the election, contributing to the post-election conflict.
Now, they had a chance to ensure the integrity and reliability of our elections. Yet again, the court refused.
Thomas shamed the court saying, “Our fellow citizens deserve better.”
He pointed out the obvious. By refusing to weigh in on this crucial matter, the fate of our democracy is at stake.
After the mess that came out of many states in counting ballots, many Americans might have lost faith in the entire process.
(Just look at what many conservatives are saying online, and you’ll agree.)
The court could have addressed this problem, ensuring that future elections are protected. But for some reason, they didn’t.
Perhaps, when a case like this comes up in the future, they will heed Thomas’s words.
- The Supreme Court refused to take up the ballot case out of Pennsylvania.
- Clarence Thomas dissented, criticizing the court’s decision.
- He accused the court of letting down American citizens.
