‘Catholic’ Joe Biden Cracks Up Over SCOTUS Leak – Joe’s Past Pro-Life Stance Slips Out, Now Contradicts His Own Church

What’s Happening:

You really have to wonder what the Catholic Church thinks about Democrats in public office. Joe Biden claims to be a good Catholic.

Well, Joe, the church has a pretty strong stance on the sanctity of life. Can you defend your reaction to them, after the Supreme Court leak came out?

From Townhall:

“I believe that a woman’s right to choose is fundamental, Roe has been the law of the land for almost fifty years, and basic fairness and the stability of our law demand that it not be overturned.”

It seems Joe is defending abortion and Roe. But that’s not all he said.

From Twitter:

Biden: “Roe says what all basic mainstream religions have historically concluded, that the existence of a human life and being is a question.”

Nonsense. And now, people are digging up how much Biden has swung on this issue.

From Twitter:

In 1982 Joe Biden proposed a constitutional amendment that would overturn Roe v. Wade and allow states to choose their own policies on abortion.

Don’t believe him? Hear it straight from the New York Times:

In 1981, with an anti-choice President newly elected and Republicans controlling the Senate,  social conservatives pushed for a constitutional amendment to allow individual states to overturn Roe v. Wade.

The amendment cleared a key hurdle in the Senate Judiciary Committee in March 1982. Support came not only from Republicans but from a 39-year-old, second-term Democrat: Joseph R. Biden Jr.

“I’m probably a victim, or a product, however you want to phrase it, of my background,” Mr. Biden, a Roman Catholic, said at the time. The decision, he said, was “the single most difficult vote I’ve cast as a U.S. senator.”

Joe Biden nearly melted down over the news that the Supreme Court is about to overturn Roe v. Wade. He claimed that abortion is a “fundamental” right.

Even then tried to claim that “mainstream religions have historically concluded” that the start of human life is a question.

Um… no, Joe. Mainstream religions, like Christianity, Judaism, and Islam all condemn abortion. Especially the Catholic Church, of which Joe claims to be a member.

Some people pointed out that way back in 1982, Biden actually wanted a constitutional amendment that would have overturned Roe and given the states the power to decide abortion policy.

That’s the very thing the leaked draft is promising to do. Why did Joe change his stance so radically?

Is it because he’s really changed his views on abortion? Or is it because he’s always been a yes-man, who does whatever he thinks will win him support with the party?

Key Takeaways:

  • Joe Biden blasted the possibility of the Supreme Court overturning Roe v. Wade.
  • He claimed abortion was a “fundamental” right.
  • In the 1980s, he wanted to overturn Roe and give power to the states.
