Hours After California Blocks Larry Elder From Recall Race – The Radio Host Airs Out Their Dirty Laundry And Sues

What’s Happening:

We recently learned that conservative icon and radio host, Larry Elder, was running for California governor.

Such a figure in the race would certainly give Gavin Newsom a run for his money. A smart, likable, black Republican running against a hated Democrat? Game over!

But it seems like the Democrats who run the state were terrified of Elder’s chances. They rejected his bid for candidacy, claiming he didn’t submit his tax records.

The problem? He did submit five years’ worth of taxes, complying with the law.

Now, Elder is fighting back.

From Twitter:

We’re in court in less than an hour over this B.S. Before we submitted the over 200 pages of 5 yrs of tax returns, my accountant made sure we complied with the law, as did two election law lawyers

This new law was passed by the supermajority Democrat legislature to force Trump to turn over his tax returns to get on the 2020 ballot. California Supreme Court struck it down unanimously for presidential, but let it stand for gubernatorial elections.

See you in court.

California Democrats passed a law requiring candidates to submit tax returns to get on the ballot. They did this to block Trump from running in 2020.

The CA Supreme Court struck down the law for presidential races but left it in for state gubernatorial races.

That means that everyone who wants to run for governor needs to submit their tax records.

Okay, fine. Larry Elder did that. He says his people submitted redacted, then unredacted versions of his tax records. That seems like plenty of data to comply with this new law.

Yet the state’s election officials refused his bid, claiming his taxes were “incomplete.”

Um… what? Do these people even know their own laws? Or is this just a ruse to block a popular figure from running?

As it turns out, two other candidates have yet to file their 2020 taxes, so they certainly haven’t complied with this law. Yet it doesn’t seem like the state is preventing them from running.

Larry Elder has already taken this to court. We’ll see what happens next.

Key Takeaways:

  • The state of CA rejected Larry Elder’s bid for governor, claiming his tax records were “incomplete.”
  • Elder submitted 5 years’ worth of taxes, both redacted and unredacted versions.
  • The conservative icon has announced he will be taking them to court.
