The border crisis has been going on for the better part of three years. Republicans have been heavily critical of Joe Biden, accusing him of letting the problem get worse.
Texas, a Republican-led state, has employed numerous resources to repel illegal border crossers.
But other border states are currently led by Democrats and it was unclear if they were doing anything about the crisis. Until now. One Democrat governor is defying Biden to make this major move.

On Friday, Arizona Gov. Katie Hobbs (D) signed an executive order to deploy the state’s National Guard to back up law enforcement along its southern border with Mexico…“Yet again, the federal government is refusing to do its job to secure our border and keep our communities safe.” She added, “With this Executive Order, I am taking action where the federal government won’t.”
Democrat Governor of Arizona, Katie Hobbs, signed an executive order to deploy the National Guard to the U.S.-Mexico border. In a statement released following the decision, Hobbs blasted the Biden administration for “refusing to do its job.”
Texas Gov. Abbott was the first to deploy guardsmen to the border. The Texas National Guard has been working with Border agents and other law enforcement to secure the border from the seemingly unending waves of border jumpers.
According to Gov. Hobbs, the Arizona National Guard is needed to reopen the Lukeville crossing, which apparently was closed to prevent ongoing illegal entry. The Guardsmen will “manage the flow of migrants” so the state can “maintain a secure, orderly, and humane border.”
It is unclear what “manage the flow of migrants” means. But it could result in the state allowing migrants to enter the country, rather than repel them. Due to a Supreme Court ruling from decades ago, states do not have the authority to deport aliens.
Gov. Hobbs’s sharp criticism of the Biden administration echoes other sentiments from Democrats who are responsible for border states or border communities. These liberals are joining Republicans to call out the White House for failing to prevent this tide of illegal immigration.
