Joe Biden’s administration has made it clear that he wholeheartedly supports illegal aliens flowing into the country by the millions. He called for them to come on in when he was a candidate, and he has continued to enact policies that keep the illegals swarming across the U.S. border.
Biden’s team of federal government bureaucrats have found ways to provide everything the illegal immigrants need. While he provides for the illegals, Biden has ignored the needs of Americans who are struggling.
Biden was just exposed for undermining U.S. military veterans who valiantly served their country. His policies are now allowing illegal immigrants to receive benefits that should go to veterans as these service members struggle to get medical care.
Fox News reported that the administration is providing health care administrative services to illegal migrants amid a worsening border crisis. This is potentially increasing long wait times for American veterans utilizing Department of Veterans’ Affairs (VA) facilities. The situation has Republican leaders fuming.
“[Biden’s] decided, OK, we’ve got to feed all these 10 million people we’ve let come across the border, we’ve got to house them, and we’ve got to give them health care,” Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) said. “They’ve opened up care from the doctors in these [VA] community care systems. The lines now in the VA’s are getting longer. Our funds that are supposed to go to the veterans are going to these illegal immigrants that are coming across.”
Tuberville joined with Rep. Mike Bost (R-IL) to introduce the No VA Resources for Illegal Aliens Act. The measure would ban Biden’s support of illegals by the VA. Tuberville said this border “disaster” is all Biden’s doing and veterans shouldn’t suffer because of it.
Tuberville noted that the VA already struggles to provide care for all 19 million veterans throughout the country and that the community systems in place helped reduce wait times until the border crisis worsened under Biden.
The VA Financial Service Center (VA-FSC) has an arrangement with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to process claims for migrant medical care. This was established under former President Donald Trump’s administration.
An illegal migrant under ICE detention who needs health care is typically treated onsite by medical professionals. Any specialist or emergency care may be taken to an independent private provider. These providers are reimbursed at Medicare rates using the VA-FSC Healthcare Claims Processing System. This portal allows providers to submit and view claims and access other resources.
This method of processing claims, according to a former VA adviser, created a “history of a backlog of medical claims which has resulted in veterans getting bills they shouldn’t be getting.” The adviser noted that community care providers are also not getting paid on time.
Tuberville hopes the bill can gain bipartisan traction during this election year, considering the number of Democrats facing close reelection races. This would provide a chance for Americans to understand the problem.
“An election year is a great year to try to get some kind of bipartisan help on any type of bill, especially when it comes to the veterans,” Tuberville said. “That means so much to us here in our country.”
