Joe Biden’s estimated $1.9T relief bill has entered the approval process, and many Democrats are hoping it passes with ease. They want to deliver more aid to America as quickly as possible.
However, there’s a lot more in that proposed bill than just aid — as usual, there are controversial elements to this gigantic piece of legislation, and some seemingly have no connection to the pandemic.
In fact, Republicans claim it’s loaded with progressive agenda items.
House Republican Whip Steve Scalise, one of the most outspoken members of the GOP for years, is one of these critics.
In speaking to Fox News recently, Scalise pulls no punches when he sounds the alarm on this relief bill. He also says we’ve heard this story before.
Specifically, he cites the last relief bill, when certain Democrat leaders infamously said they’d have to pass it to really see what’s in it. That could be happening again.
But even worse, Scalise claims there’s a massive amount of “liberal pork” in the bill, which of course leftist politics are 100% aware of:
You’re gonna be finding out a lot of things that are very disturbing.
Less than 10 percent of the money in this 1.9 trillion bill is for public health.
Scalise also calls out other far-left items, such as the $15 minimum wage (which is embedded in the bill), and “bailouts of failed states like New York.”
He adds that such a bill would be “destructive to the economy,” and cited one expert who said it could easily lead to more financial devastation long-term.
On top of this, Scalise talked about $60 billion in relief packages that is still “out there.” In other words, it hasn’t even been used yet, and we’re talking about delivering billions more.
All told, he says there’s a whopping $1 trillion just sitting idle and unspent, which caused the Fox News host to respond simply, “wow.”
Later in the interview, they shift to New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, and the possibility of taking away his emergency powers in the wake of the epidemic.
But the relief bill was clearly the hot topic here, and the numbers – if accurate – should be concerning for every American taxpayer.
Scalise is hardly the only Republican to call out the “liberal pork” often found embedded in such large pieces of legislation. But with a Democrat-controlled government, it all might pass.
Will it meet enough opposition to fail, and if it does pass, what does this mean for the future financial situation of our country?
- Rep. Steve Scalise slams Joe Biden’s $1.9T relief bill. He specifically calls out all the “liberal pork” included.
- He also mentions the $15 minimum wage, and bailouts of failing states like New York.
- Perhaps most disturbingly, Scalise claims there’s still $1T left in unspent aid from the last relief bill they passed.
