If his approval polls are any indication, Joe Biden’s presidency has been an overall failure. The man promised in 2020 to “build back better.”
But it does not appear Americans believe he’s done the job. His biggest “victories” have come in the form of massive spending bills and controversial executive orders.
Biden’s most ambitious plan, however, was to force America into a “green” economy. He shut down drilling on federal land. And he got Congress to approve billions in green investments. Now, reports are revealing, that this too, has been a failure.
From Politico:
Congress at the urging of the Biden administration agreed in 2021 to spend $7.5 billion to build tens of thousands of electric vehicle chargers across the country, aiming to appease anxious drivers while tackling climate change. Two years later, the program has yet to install a single charger.
Biden coerced Congress into approving $7.5 billion to build EV charges across the country. A big hurdle with electric vehicles is their significantly lower range than gas cars. So, Biden wanted the government to build charges, to encourage EV buying.
But two years have passed and the government has failed to build one charger. This is a huge setback for Biden’s green agenda; Americans are unlikely to switch to EVs, if they cannot charge them.
On top of that, one of Biden’s championed electric bus companies filed for bankruptcy. But the problem is bigger than that.
From Just the News:
[EV bus maker Proterra] announced last month it had concluded auctions as part of its Chapter 11 bankruptcy process, and in the wake of its collapse public transit systems tell Just The News they have inoperable buses that can’t be repaired because the company is slow to supply parts to fix them.
Many communities across America bought electric buses from Biden-backed Proterra. But the company went bankrupt this year. Those towns and cities that had bought its buses report that they cannot even use their buses, which break down and cannot be repaired.
Biden shuttled billions to companies like Proterra. His energy secretary, Jennifer Granholm, served on the company’s board.
Cities spent a fortune on Proterra’s buses, which cost $1 million each. But most of these buses are inoperable, and cannot be repaired now that the company is gone. It is possible the buses had been poorly made from the start, contributing to the company’s collapse.
Despite receiving huge grants from Biden, this green company was unable to survive. A similar fate has befallen car makers who betted on Biden’s green agenda. Some, like Ford, have lost billions producing EVs nobody wants.
Key Takeaways:
- Biden’s green agenda has become one of his biggest failures.
- He convinced Congress to spend billions on EV charges, that have not been built.
- One of the companies he gave billions to, Proterra, collapsed; leaving cities with broken buses.
